Tuesday Topic Recap

By | January 15, 2011

Last week we asked, once again, what your favorite 5 of 5 DVD was (hoping that now most fans who were waiting for the holidays to receive their DVD set now have them!)

The most votes went to “I can’t choose a favorite” and I can see how that won – the DVD sets are just so well done that it is really hard to choose, even if you do have a favorite album, as they are just all so unique!

In second place was The Walk, the 4th night of the series. Tied for third place was I don’t have the set, Middle of Nowhere, This Time Around and Underneath.

Shockingly, Shout It Out came in dead last with only 6% (1 vote)

I must note that we did have some technical difficulties with the poll in the beginning and had to reset it after several votes had been cast and I am not sure if those who had voted before the reset voted once the issues were fixed, so these results might be skewed just a bit. (Not that any of our polls are scientific – we are just looking for something fun to discuss!)

This Week at HNet

By | January 13, 2011

Valentine’s Chocolate

Got a sweet tooth? We are bringing back gourmet Hanson chocolates for Valentine’s Day, but this time in style. Flavors include Ikespresso, Tayriffic Chocolate, and Zacalicious Caramel. Look for them in the Hanson.net store at the end of the week.

The Giving Cup Coffee

We are very excited to be selling another roast of KIKOMBE CHA KUTOA Kenyan Coffee (The Giving Cup) along with a red mug. For those of you who want a wonderful cup of coffee that also supports a great cause, look for it in the store at the end of the week.

I Heart Hanson

In celebration of Valentines Day (the ultimate holiday of love), we have a brand new “I Heart Hanson” T-shirt inspired by The 113 Painting Book. Look for it at the end of the week in the Hanson.net store.

From the Band

We are just around the corner from the release of our second single “Give A Little.” We have been putting the final touches on the “Give A Little” video, and working on remixes for the iTunes single release. They are turning out pretty cool. This week has also marked the beginning of designs for the first ever Hanson board game, Hansonopoly. The plan is to have it finished for Hanson Day this year, but we will be asking for a little help to finalize all the Chance and Community Chest cards. This may be even cooler then the Platinum Shout it Out Package, but we are big Monopoly fans.

Coming next Tuesday – Song Vs Song

By | January 13, 2011

Make sure that you are registered for the forums – http://www.hansonstage.com/forums – as this is the ONLY way to vote in the Hanson song vs song competition that will be starting on January 18th. (Visitors to the forums will be able to see the results but will have no ability to vote)

We recently had to change the forums to admin approval due to the fact that we have had a lot of spammers signing up and spamming the forums with ads. If you are going to sign up – please shoot us an email at tickets@hansonstage.com or a tweet @hansonstage with the username you signed up under so that we will push your registration through.

If you have previously signed up and do not appear to have a working account, please sign up again and shoot us an email or tweet. There may have been some accounts lost in the shuffle when trying to get the spammers out of the system.

We will be accepting forum accounts throughout the competition, but you should really sign up now (and get your friends to as well) to make sure that you have an influence on all the voting!

News Round Up

By | January 8, 2011

There was a post on Hanson.net asking about Hanson fans help with an art project for “One Day Without Shoes” – Check out the facebook group for more details!

FreeRice.com has a group “Hanson Fans Fighting Hunger” Sign up and answer questions to get rice grains sent to those who need them! For each answer you get right, 10 grains of rice are donated.

While doing some research for some possible future posts, I came across a website from 1997, created by Spite Magazine It has a counter on it tracking how many seconds have passed since the author first heard the song as well as another count figuring out the average number of times an American has had to endure the song “MMMBop” The author notes that the song was heard 3 times in 19 hours. For 1997, that seems like a lot of times between songs – I remember hearing it nearly every time I turned on the radio! The site is exactly as it was in 1997 and is good for a few laughs and a step back in time. Almost like I stumbled upon a time capsule! If you have some free time, be sure to check it out 🙂

Vote HANSON in the ShortyAwards!

By | January 8, 2011

The Shorty Awards honor the best people and organizations on Twitter and social media. Nominations may be made through Twitter and this website, culminating in an awards ceremony that recognizes the winners in dozens of official categories, as well as thousands of crowd-sourced categories.

Be sure to vote for Hanson! Once from every twitter account you have in MUSIC! (If you’d like to vote for them in an additional category -vote CHARITY)

Voting

* To vote, send a tweet like this: I nominate @TwitterUser for a Shorty Award in #category because… (add reason here)
* You can also tweet shorter votes like this: #shortyawards @username #category (add quick reason here). This shorter format is helpful if you want to vote from a party, on the road, in a meeting, or on a boat
* Be as creative as you want with the reason
* A tweet that does not give a reason for the nomination will not be counted
* The nomination must be relevant to the category
* Vote for as many different people as you want, in as many categories as you want, as often as you want
* Only one person and one category per tweet
* Voting for the same person in the same category more than once just replaces the text of your original vote; it does not count as an additional vote
* You can vote in any of the Official Categories or make up a category of your own. If a new category becomes popular, it might be turned into an Official Category with an award presented at the ceremony in March
* Twitterers are welcome to campaign and encourage their friends to vote for them
* Voters must be active Twitter users prior to the start of the competition. Votes originating from new Twitter accounts or accounts used mainly for Shorty Awards voting will automatically be disqualified and will not count toward the rankings
* We periodically perform audits to make sure our system isn’t being gamed. Contact us if you see suspicious activity
* If you change your Twitter user name, any votes you received under your old user name won’t carry over
* We reserve the right to disqualify nominees that do any of the following: impersonate others, violate trademarks, infringe copyrights, invade privacy, make threats of violence, promote illegal activities, spam others, use bots or scripts for voting, engage in abusive behavior, or otherwise violate the friendly spirit of the awards.

We asked this question in 2010, but it became evident that a lot of our readers didn’t have the 5 of 5 DVD set and might be receiving them for the holidays. We decided to post the question again – what is your favorite disc from the 5 of 5 DVD set?

Which is your favorite 5 of 5 DVD?
Middle of Nowhere
This Time Around
Underneath
The Walk
Shout It Out
I can’t choose a favorite
I don’t have the set
