1. The Hanson brothers — Isaac, Taylor, and Zac — came up with the infectious chorus to their worldwide number one hit “MMMBop” when they were just 13, 11, and 9 years old, respectively.

Monkeypox’s rebrand to the much cooler Mpox has significantly increased cases of earworms from Hanson’s 1997 hit song MMMBop. Afflicted persons can generally only remember the truly catchy chorus which loops itself continually, drowning out the usual interior monologue, which humans use to distract themselves from things they are supposed to be doing.
A potential treatment is being developed in which the verses of MMMBop are fed into the cerebral jukebox to dilute the chirpy chorus and render it less potent. A patient who is a keen horticulturalist did not respond well to the treatment, after being fed the lyric ‘Can you tell me? (If it’s going to be a daisy or a rose?) You say you can, but you don’t know’. The horticulturalist said they can tell a daisy and a rose by the leaves on the plant and other salient features.
A follow up treatment in which Hanson’s Christmas album will be administered is struggling to attract volunt-ears.

Singer Taylor Hanson’s local charity announced plans Tuesday to build an urban farm in Tulsa as part of a long-term solution to food deserts.
Food on the Move’s $7.5 million farm will use hydroponics and aquaponics technology to grow produce without soil, allowing the farm to operate inside a warehouse-style building the group plans to build near Tulsa Community College’s Northeast Campus.
Eliminating the expense of shipping food long distances, the concept will allow fresh produce to be grown in north Tulsa, an area that doesn’t have sufficient access to affordable groceries, said Hanson.
“We’re paying for it to go on a truck halfway across the country,” said Hanson, best known as a singer and keyboardist for the rock band that shares his name. “That means the good stuff is too expensive. We’ve got to bring food home.”
Food on the Move, a charity Hanson founded in 2014 to distribute food to the hungry, has already raised about $5 million from corporate and charitable partners, officials said. The group hopes to raise another $2.5 million from the public before breaking ground on the urban farm.
Some of the farm’s produce will be distributed to Tulsa grocery stores, while the rest will support Food on the Move’s distribution programs, officials said. The farm will also serve as a “living classroom” to train a new generation of hi-tech farmers, they said.
The educational component will help make the farm’s impact “long-lasting, for decades and decades,” said Tulsa County Commissioner Stan Sallee, explaining why the project received a $1 million allocation from the county’s share of federal American Rescue Plan funding.
“We were really dialed-in on making investments that would be transformational,” Sallee said. “We at Tulsa County very quickly supported this project.”
The urban farm will mark only the first phase of Food of the Move’s long-term vision, officials said.
The group eventually hopes to develop a community hub to offer cooking classes, health assessments, outdoor concerts and other events, officials said, while other future developments would include a “model market” to develop successful business practices for urban grocery stores.
Dee Snider and Twisted Sister performed at the first Rocklahoma music festival in Pryor in 2007. Snider recently used social media to praise the 1997 debut album of the Tulsa pop-rock trio Hanson.
Dee Snider digs Hanson.
The Twisted Sister frontman tweeted this about the Tulsa-based pop-rock trio:
“I must confess, I downloaded Hanson’s ‘MMMBop (guilty pleasure) and accidentally bought the entire Middle of Nowhere album it is from. I listened It’s not metal … but it is a great record. I was stunned. They were kids! Not that they care, but bravo Hanson!”
In the tweet, Snider tagged Hanson Brothers Beer, a craft beer created by the musical brothers.
Hanson responded with this: “Thanks for the kind words @deesnider. (Have a) @HANSONBrosBeer on us sometime!”
Thanks to the way back machine, we got access to some This Time Around tour concert listings and reviews and have made some updates to the site accordingly.
November 15, 2000 – Rio de Janiero – we have created a partial setlist that now has 2 songs
September 11, 2000 – New York City – updates were made to include special guest Jonny Lang as well as update the song order
September 28, 2000 – Detroit – this setlist changed significantly and we now believe it is accurate. Several songs were added. (This Time Around acapella, Save Me, Smile, Bridges of Stone, Lonely Again and Dying to Be Alive were removed as we believe these were included in error.)
November 17, 2000 – Belo Horizonte – this setlist is no longer listed as partial and we believe it is now complete with the addition of I Want You To Want Me
If you know of any older Hanson websites that may have had concert reviews posted at one time, even if they no longer exist, let us know and perhaps with the help of the way back machine we can fill in some more setlist blanks.

101 concerts, 21 countries, what an amazing year of music. Thank YOU for joining us for the RGB Tour.
Over two decades since they broke into the limelight, the Hanson brothers have no plans of slowing down anytime soon.
Hanson is a music group made up of brothers Issac, Taylor, and Zac. The brothers started their journey into music, playing the keyboard. Eventually, two of the three brothers learned to play other instruments – Issac played the guitar, while Zac played the drums.
After mastering musical instruments, the brothers started recording covers of classic songs and original materials. Before long, the group had their first performance at the 1992 Mayfest Arts Festival, making it their first professional outing.
Although the band had independently released two demo albums, Boomerang and MMMBop, before 1997, they only became a household name after their debut studio album, Middle of Nowhere. With over 10 million copies sold worldwide, the group’s first project was arguably one of the best-performing debut albums of the ’90s.
The album was so spectacular that it earned the group recognition from several awarding bodies, including Grammy nominations for Best New Artist, Record of the Year, and Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals.
The Hanson brothers ran into troubled waters when their record label Mercury Records completed a merger with Island Def Jam Records. The boy band had just released their second studio album when the merger happened This Time Around, making it a difficult time for the group.
After its release, the album performed poorly due to lack of promotional funds. The group went from bad to worse when funds for their tour were pulled, leaving the band to embark on a self-funded tour.
For years, the Hanson brothers struggled with the new record label. Their creative freedom was placed on hold, with executives from the Island Def Jam Records rejecting over 80 songs from the band, citing the lack of marketability in the demos.
After three years, the frustrated sibling group made a tough call to leave and start their independent label. In 2003, their decision birthed 3CG Records. Although it was victory at last for the group, they narrated their three years long ordeal in the 2005 documentary Strong Enough To Break.
When everything gave way, the sibling band ensured that they held firmly to connecting with their fans through tours. Throughout their career, the sibling band has gone on 18 tours, some within the United States and others outside the country’s shores.
In 2013, the band embarked on one of their best world tours, Anthem World Tour, to support their sixth studio album, Anthem. The tour began in the summer of 2013 and spanned 80 venues in America, Australia, and Europe.
To commemorate the release of their first studio album Middle Of Nowhere, Hanson announced the Middle Of Everywhere 25th anniversary world tour. “Making music together for 25 years is a milestone that we had to acknowledge, and what better way to do it than with an anniversary tour,” Taylor Hanson shared on the band’s website.
For the brothers, the anniversary celebration meant more than just celebrating over two decades of being in the industry; it was a celebration of the fans that stuck with them in those years.
The brothers have a lot going on for them outside of music. In 2013, Hanson launched their beer brand: Mmmhops. It was birthed in partnership with craft beer company Mustang Brewing to honor their 21st anniversary. As it is in their nature to give back, the brothers donate a portion of their proceeds from beer sales to charity.
Aside from entrepreneurship, the brothers were the hosts of Fools Banquet, a songwriting workshop where invited musicians collaborate with the band on songwriting and recordings.
Yes, the sibling boy band from the ’90s is still making music. It is raining colors for the group, as they released a new album Red Green Blue in May 2022. Unlike any of their projects, the RGB album was different, with each member of the group writing and producing their collection of songs.
To support the album, the brothers embarked on the Red Green Blue world tour across the US, Canada, Latin America, and Australia.
In 2004, Hanson started adding “solo songs” into their sets with only one brother on stage. For most of the RGB tour – each brother took the stage for a solo song, which was appropriate given the way the RGB album came together. Here is a breakdown of the songs each brother did solo, by leg of the tour.
And since it is the season of pie (at least in the US!) Click to see a pie chart breakdown of solos played over the course of the entire tour.
The RGB Tour is now complete. One of Hanson’s longest tour it lasted 6 months, 89 dates in 20 countries. While the tour stats are available always on the “Shows played live by tour” page, we have also recently added a page that will show you your personal stats for each tour and the shows you’ve seen. How do your stats match up to the over all? Did you manage to catch any songs that were only played once throughout the course of the tour? What songs did you miss that you wish you had heard?
