WEEKLY PIC

This week we celebrate our great country’s Independence Day on July 4th. It’s a day all Americans cherish, and one of our personal favorite holidays. Happy Fourth of July!

MESSAGE FROM THE BAND

This week, all over the US, people are gathering to celebrate our American Independence.  It’s a day of heartfelt appreciation for our privileges and blessings and a remembrance of our country’s heroes who fought to establish a land of great opportunity.  Some of our best memories are from Independence Day gatherings (July 4th) out in the hot sun with friends and family, most of the time nearly blowing up a relative while in the throes of a risky firework master plan (usually involving all the Hanson boys). We hope all of the Americans out there get a chance to enjoy a wonderful holiday gathering (whether it involves explosives or not) and that you get a moment to reflect on just how amazing it is that our upstart nation even exists. Wishing you all the best wherever you are.

Happy 4th!

Isaac, Taylor and Zac

FIRST LOOK: HANSON & ECHOSMITH PERFORM ON JULY 7 “GREATEST HITS” EPISODE

By | June 29, 2016

Headline Planet

Hanson and Echosmith perform together on the July 7 “Greatest Hits.” Here’s a first look!

Earlier this month, ABC confirmed that Hanson would be performing on the July 7 edition of its “Greatest Hits.”

What the network’s press release did not acknowledge, however, was that Hanson is joined on stage by fellow sibling band Echosmith.

The network formalized that news Monday by virtue of releasing new photos from the taping. Several of those photos feature the two acts collaborating on the “Greatest Hits” stage.

While this represents ABC’s first formal confirmation of the pairing, Echosmith fans have known about it for some time. The band Tweeted a set photo last month.

The July 7 “Greatest Hits” focuses on the hits of the period between 1995 and 2000. Other confirmed performers include Backstreet Boys (Meghan Trainor), Jewel (with Tori Kelly), Coolio (with CeeLo Green), LL Cool J (with Wiz Khalifa) and John Legend (performing two Lauryn Hill hits).

Details and photos of those performances are available here. ABC’s first look photos of the Hanson’s performance, as well as its Echosmith collaboration, follow:

MESSAGE FROM THE BAND

It has been a good week with lots of meetings and a little bit of packing.  We are headed overseas this week on a special trip, one we have wanted to see happen for years.  We are going to be taking some time to play for the US Navy.  It feels especially appropriate that we would be going on this little tour right now as we are fast approaching July and American Independence Day.  We will be celebrating July 4th with some of the amazing men and women who put their lives on the line to protect the freedoms and the principles that make the United States great.

We shared some of our plans for celebrating our 25th year as a band during HANSON Day 2016 and now we are going about the work of making those plans a reality.  The Play EP is all but finished, we are working on the list of songs for our coming Christmas album and the planning for a full tour in 2017 is underway.  The behind the scenes meetings are by no means the highlights of this job, but they make it all possible.  We are hoping to make it all around the world playing shows in the lead up to a brand new full length album – album number 7.

There are more new videos and photos from the making of Loud on H.net this week and still more to come.

TAKE THE WALK MEGAPHONE WINNER!

Thank you.

Hanson’s ‘MMMBop’ Gets the Doo-Wop Treatment Thanks to Postmodern Jukebox

By | June 23, 2016

Billboard

Postmodern Jukebox covers Hanson’s “MMMbop.”
When then-child band Hanson busted straight out of the Middle of Nowhere(aka Tulsa) in 1997 with their smash first single “MMMBop,” they loved telling reporters how their musical style was heavily influenced by the Motown and early rock n’ roll compilations they listened to as (even younger) kids.

Well, now YouTube covers band sensation Postmodern Jukebox have returned the favor by stripping back the insanely catchy original’s Dust Brothers beats and scratching and replacing them with some good old-fashioned doo-wop soda shop pop. The Happy Days-esque version of “‘Bop” from the group known for reimagining everyone from Katy Perry to the White Stripes, Twenty One Pilots and Guns N’ Roses is heavy on handclaps and barbershop quartet harmonizing.

KFVS 12

(KFVS) –

Let’s turn back the clock and check some entertainment headlines from 1997.

J. K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” is published in the U.K. It comes to U.S. the next year as “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone.”
“Titanic” crashes into theaters. It is the most expensive film of all time, costing between $250 and $300 million to produce and market.

On TV, people were watching “Friends,” “ER” and “Veronica’s Closet.”

And these were the songs that were the songs people were listening to this week 19 years ago.

Billboard Magazine’s Hot 100 had The Notorious B.I.G at number five with “Hypnotize.” The song was the first release from his album “Life After Death” which came out after the rapper was killed in a drive-by shooting earlier in the year.

Checking in at number four was Mark Morrison with “Return of the Mack.”

At number three was the Spice Girls with “Say You’ll Be There.” You may also remember the video which features the group as a band of female techno-warriors, who use martial arts and high-tech ninja weapons.

Holding down the number two spot was Hanson with “Mmmbop.” The song was popular all over the world reaching number one in 27 countries including the U-S.

Puff Daddy and Faith Evans took the top spot in 1997 with their hit “I’ll Be Missing You.” It was a tribute to The Notorious B.I.G. It sampled “Every Breath You Take,” the 1983 hit by The Police. “I’ll Be Missing You” spent 11 weeks in the top spot making it one of the biggest singles of all time.
