Love it or hate it, “MMMBop” became a pop classic that offered one last breath of innocence before radio turned ugly and/or utterly vapid. With the rise of boy bands, mini Mariah Careys, and rap-rock nasties, Hanson’s days were numbered, and when the young trio began making more mature alternative pop, it was shunned by radio and MTV alike. Too bad: 2007’s The Walk was a strong effort from a bunch of post-adolescents who overcame what must have been a boatload of pressure, proving that the brothers hadn’t been suffocated by their past. Taylor (the middle one) most recently teamed up with The Smashing Pumpkin’s James Iha and Cheap Trick’s Bun E. Carlos for super-group Tinted Windows, while keeping busy on an as-yet unnamed 2010 release with his siblings.
