Wow!

We have had a really great week of writing. We worked on four new song ideas, and they all had great feels all their own. We will share the working titles, and you can try to imagine what they sound like.

We officially go into the studio this month. It is a big step to go from scratch recordings and demos to album quality performances, but we are excited for the challenge.

This week we are releasing Digital Pants: Volume One, a very random collection of songs that up until now were never available other than deep in the archives of the Hanson.net Members Only blogs. They are random, and in some cases less song than they are train of thought, but they should keep you well entertained while you wait out the next few weeks before switching over to the Christmas classics.

What is Digital Pants: Volume One?

Starting in 2006 random songs of all kinds began to show up in the blog section of Hanson.net staring with the song “Turning 21”, a song coined in honor of Zac Hanson’s twenty first birthday. Over the years there have been more than a dozen songs released this way, with the most recent addition being “ZOMBIE” Released for Halloween 2012. This music is so spastically inspired and discombobulated only a Hanson.net member could love it.

All 15 songs have been digitally re: mastered and are now available only to Hanson.net members as the album we fondly call “Digital Pants: Volume One”.

Also includes: “Hear Those Jingle Bells” a brand new Christmas song for 2012.

Flashback Friday – The Walk Preview Tour ’07

The first friday of every month we are going to flashback to a past Hanson tour with the songs that were performed during each tour.  Check out the show(s) you went to on that tour to see if you have a ticket or setlist we don’t already have posted.  If you do, send it to tickets@hansonstage.com so we can try and get the site as accurate as possible!

In early 2007, Hanson did a few shows to preview The Walk the new album that would be coming out in July.  While a few of the shows we are considering “preview” shows did end up happening after the walk was released, since they were not officially a part of “The Walk Tour” we are including them.  We have a total of 16 show, 298 songs, 46 of them unique. We are missing the setlist for the final show of the tour at The Viper Room in Los Angeles California on August 15, 2007.

What is the very first memory of Hanson that you have?
In 8th grade I saved up paper route money to buy my first CD player. My mom agreed to buy my first CD and it was Middle of Nowhere. I fell in love with the whole thing the first time I heard it!

How many times have you seen Hanson in concert? Favorite concert memory?
Clifton Park, NY – 3 times
Hartford, CT – 1 time
Northampton, MA – 2 times
Boston, MA – 1 time
Milwaukee, WI – 2 times (favorite memory in 2009, my best friend got a drumstick from Taylor and I got the guitar pick from Isaac and yes I did cry lmao)
NYC – 3 times (first 3 5 of 5 shows)
New Haven, CT – 1 time
Cohasset, MA – 1 time
Total of 14 shows so far.

What is your favorite Hanson song and why?
Its hard to choose, but I would have to say Minute Without You. Always makes me smile and brings me back to when I first fell in love with their music.

Why do you like/love Hansoin?
They’re so incredibly good to their fans, their music is wholesome, and also no matter how much crap they get, they keep making music and making their fans happy with lots of touring.

How long have you been a Hanson fan?
Since 1997

Why should you be FAN OF THE MONTH?
It’s probably rare for a male fan to get fan of the month, but I’ve turned quite a few friends into liking Hanson for their newer music. I think thats a little deserving, lol

 

Tulsa’s Hanson talks the next generation on ‘Oprah: Where Are They Now?’ tonight

Is Tulsa’s Hanson already thinking about the next generation band? Maybe.

Brothers Taylor, 29, Isaac, 31, and Zac, 27, talk about it as guests on tonight’s “Oprah: Where Are They Now?” airing at 9 p.m. on OWN, cable 106, reported people.com.
“Each of us have a boy that was born in 2008 — they sort of fit our roles,” says Zac in video from the show. “Viggo … he’s kind of the mastermind, and Isaac’s 4-year-old Monroe, he’s kind of the show man, the frontman, he’s very outgoing. And my son Shepherd … he hits things! He’s sort of the muscle.”
“He’s like, ‘Hey, Shep…'” says Isaac.
“Go beat that kid up. That kid stole my lollipop, beat him up!'” adds Zac.
Between them, the brothers, who make up Tulsa’s world famous pop rock group, have nine children.
Isaac and wife Nicole are parents to sons Clarke Everett, 5 ½ and James Monroe, 4. Zac and his wife Kate are the parents of Shepherd, 4, and Junia Rosa Ruth, 22 months.
Taylor and wife Natalie have the largest brood with Jordan Ezra, 10, Penelope Ann, 7, River Samuel, 6, Viggo Moriah, 3 ½ and Wilhelmina Jane born October 2, according to the website.
Being parents and family men while on the road is difficult, they explain in the interview.
“I think the last … four years in a row we did right around 40 to 50 shows in the U.S. every year,” said Isaac who, with his brothers, kicked off their musical careers with the hit pop tune “Mmmbop” in 1997.
“It can be a hard thing. We all have kids and wives and lawns to mow,” says Zac in the video promo.

Zac Hanson: Our Sons May Form a Future Band

Their singing careers began with their sensational single “Mmmbop,” but these days, the Hanson brothers are juggling their fan following with their own brood of babies.

And with nine children between the three of them, the multi-talented musicians admit balancing the best of both worlds isn’t always so easy.

“I think the last … four years in a row we did right around 40 to 50 shows in the U.S. every year,” Isaac, who along with wife Nicole are parents to sons Clarke Everett, 5½, and James Monroe, 4, says during Tuesday’s episode of Oprah: Where Are They Now?, airing at 10 p.m. on OWN.

“It can be a hard thing. We all have kids and wives and lawns to mow,” Zac, dad to Shepherd, 4, and Junia Rosa Ruth, 22 months, with wife Kate, quips. Recently becoming a family of seven with the arrival of daughter Wilhelmina Jane earlier this month, Taylor, 29, takes the blame for “off-setting the scales” with Jordan Ezra, 10, Penelope Anne, 7, River Samuel, 6, and Viggo Moriah, 3½, his children with wife Natalie.

“Zac and I don’t have that many between the two of us!” Isaac, 31, jokes.

But amid the chaos of kids, there may be a future band in the making; The famous fathers liken the relationship between three of their sons to their own tight-knit trio.

NEW From The Band

This Week

This week we wanted to treat Fan Club members to some new music, not new music for a Hanson album, but something we cooked up to get you into the mood for fall. We have been very focused on the new album, the release schedule, touring around the world, marketing plans, album budgets, all things that are good, but also things that sometimes suck the joy out of being a musician. Because of that every once and a while we like to rattle our own cage and do things just for the sake of it, regardless of its merits. It was time to infuse some danger into our musical discography and so we drug this corps of a new tune out from six feet under.

There are just not enough songs about the dangers of Halloween, so we felt like we should add another to that very short playlist. We hope you enjoy it.
