MESSAGE FROM THE BAND

The biggest news this week is the official announcement of HANSON Day 2018.  The celebration of our band’s 26th birthday will take place in Tulsa on May 17-19th. Hanson.net members can RSVP starting now in the calendar section and the full schedule of events will be released in a couple weeks on February 1st. We are still a few months away, but it feels exciting to be planning, writing and painting, all prepping for a great weekend.

Back To The Island 2018 was amazing! Even with the rain, for us it felt like returning to a home away from home. We have a bunch of video to share so starting today and for the next month we will be sharing new videos each week from the island events – music, a little bit of the activities. Maybe by watching them we can bring some of the Caribbean (“No problem man”) to our freezing Oklahoma weather.

Each year, HANSON Day weekend marks the release of our annual Member’s EP, so with today’s announcement… you guessed it, we are nearly ready to start to record.  The actual dates have not been set in stone just yet, partly because we are still going back and forth on what the musical theme for the EP should be.  The plan is to start recording sometime next month (February) so we can have it finished in plenty of time for HANSON Day release.  We should have more details next month about when you can watch the making of the new EP so stay tuned.

HANSON DAY 2018

We are excited to announce HANSON Day Weekend will take place May 17th, 18th and 19th in Tulsa Oklahoma. Hanson.net members wishing to attend can RSVP starting today by clicking the RSVP button on the HANSON Day event in the calendar section.

HANSON Day is a celebration of HANSON’s formation 26 years ago. Each year’s activities evolve, but past years have featured event like:

  • Movie Night
  • Story Tellers Concert
  • Live Recording of The Sound Of Light EP

Ten Second Songs’ Anthony Vincent joined forces with metal YouTuber Jared Dines to deliver the Korn-style covers we didn’t know we needed.

Watch the video below—because, yes, a nü metal version of Hanson’s “MMMBop” was missing from our lives.

On the video, Vincent and Dines cover 10 pop songs from the past three decades in the style of Korn, and the results are pretty awesome.

Some of our favorites—that we’d love to hear in full—include Post Malone’s “Rockstar,” Avril Lavigne’s “Complicated” and N’SYNC’s “It’s Gonna Be Me.”

Zac performed a new song at Back to the Island – a clip of it was posted on the Hanson.net blog back in August of 2017.  We are crowd-sourcing the lyrics so if there is anything here you think should be something else or if you can fill in the blanks that are missing please let us know before we toss them into the database 🙂

MESSAGE FROM THE BAND

What a week, what a great way to start 2018. Our sixth “Back To The Island” has now come and gone. Normally it would be hard to encapsulate the week into one phrase but this year’s would be… “Baby Sea Turtles.”

The week started slow as we made the best of some bad weather, but by day two things were coming together.  Zac and Chris kicked the music off with their solo shows, followed by our Rock All Night set.  On day three, Taylor took everyone for a group swim during his set and Isaac wrote a new song on stage. Each of the full band concerts were voted on by Hanson.net members and that meant each set was almost completely different.

To find yourself sitting on a private beach, watching the waves roll in while playing music is a pretty amazing way to spend the day. We did Tie Dye and Island Games again this year with Taylor taking the final bow as he hosted the final event of the week, a dance party full of soul and funk. It would have been enough just to have everything go off smoothly, but we were treated to a little island magic when baby sea turtles began hatching and crawling into the surf as we played “I Was Born.” It was magical.  We leave the island with excitement for a great year to come and anticipation for BTTI 2019.

MESSAGE FROM THE BAND

Happy New Year! Well, 2018 is upon us and that means New Year’s resolutions and a trip to Jamaica to either help us keep them or make us break them.  This will be our sixth Back To The Island event and this year we have a new resort to explore and frigid Oklahoma weather to escape.  Over the next week, we will be hosting games and playing music, trying our hands at Tye Dye again (maybe this year we will figure it out) and probably dye our hands in the process.  We are looking forward to the week of music with Steven Kellogg and Chris Carrabba and for those not joining us, we will be sharing photos and videos throughout, so keep an eye out for those. We have big plans for the year. The dates for HANSON Day 2018 are nearly ready to share as well as when and how you can watch us make the 2018 members EP.  We will be on the road again… but for now we are going to work on our tans and do our best to remember the rules to Family Feud.  See you on the island!
