Hanson at The Pageant
Although it’s still trying to escape 1997’s “MMMBop,” the brotherly trio Hanson somehow managed to snag the “indie rock” moniker after the release of 2007’s The Walk — mainly because it was released on the band’s own label (hence “indie”) and, surprisingly, actually rocks. With a new album on the horizon (all signs point to an early 2010 release), the trio is heading out with Hellogoodbye. Formerly a goofy keyboard-pop act, the band is now principle Forrest Kline and a slew of friends (including former Early November guitarist Joe Marro), and boasts a new, more Shins-esque musical direction. Hellogoodbye’s long-gestating sophomore set is also due in early 2010 (much to the chagrin of HGB fans, who have waited since 2006 for new material), so expect this show to be peppered with new songs from both co-headliners.
