HANSON ANNOUNCE SHOUT IT OUT NORTH AMERICAN TOUR AND OPENING BAND CONTEST IN PARTNERSHIP WITH OURSTAGE
MUSIC VIDEO OVER 1 MILLION PLAYS ON MYSPACE FIRST SINGLE “THINKING ‘BOUT SOMETHIN’” DEBUTS AT DIGITAL OUTLETS SOLD-OUT, FIVE-NIGHT CONCERT SERIES BEGINS TODAY STREAMED LIVE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH LIVESTREAM.COM
April 26, 2010 – NewYork – HANSON is proud to announce the first two legs of their North American tour in support of their highly anticipated fifth record, Shout It Out. The announcement of the tour follows a whirlwind week of excitement for the band’s debut single, “Thinking ‘Bout Somethin’” which was released to digital outlets Friday in conjunction with the premiere network television performance of the song on the Late Show with David Letterman, and the music video debut on Myspace, garnering praise from fans and critics alike including Perez Hilton, MTV, Entertainment Weekly, Absolute Punk and Salon. The video, featuring “Weird” Al Yankovic, was viewed over a million times in the first few days of release, and is still rising. The exuberant homage to classic film The Blues Brothers, recreates an iconic scene where the band’s soulful music incites over 300 people to dance in the street.
Billboard said that Shout It Out represents some of the band’s “most soulful work ever committed to record”, while Salon hailed that the new single “may be their finest moment yet”, Entertainment Weekly praised “Thinking ‘Bout Somethin’” as “a delicious, catchy slice of pop-soul”, and Idolator predicted, “don’t be surprised if there’s a Hanson revival in 2010”.
The first leg of the Shout It Out Tour begins July 21 with support from Rooney, and covers the east coast, south and midwest. The second leg, featuring A Rocket To The Moon, covers the southwest and west coast and begins September 14. The Shout It Out Tour also provides a platform for HANSON to continue their passion and support for independent music by partnering with OurStage to host an opening band contest in each market, where local indie artists can compete for the chance to share the stage with the band. Ben Campbell, CEO of OurStage, said “We are honored that HANSON approached OurStage to find emerging artists to perform as opening acts at local stops of their tour. HANSON has been a leader in the music industry for a long time as musicians and by running their own label, paving the way for other emerging artists seeking to make a name for themselves.”
HANSON is also excited to announce their partnership to create dynamic live streaming content with Livestream.com, beginning tonight with the band’s sold-out, five-night concert series at New York’s Gramercy Theatre. Each concert will feature the band performing one of their albums in its entirety, leading up to the worldwide debut of Shout It Out on the final night. The live streaming concert series will be viewable by the public on Hanson.net and Livestream.com as well as MSN.com. The live broadcast gives fans around the world the opportunity to be a part of the career-spanning event, and begins a series of exciting live streaming content to be continued throughout the rollout of Shout It Out.
“Our band has always been fuelled by a dynamic relationship with our fans, and the launch of live content with Livestream is going to open a new door for us to engage music fans wherever they are in real time through Livestream’s player which can be embedded anywhere from Facebook to Twitter and turn a broadcast into an online conversation,” said Taylor Hanson. Isaac added, “The live platform is where we think the future is for artists who want to really engage their fans.”
Shout It Out, to be released on HANSON’s own 3CG Records on June 8, was written and produced by HANSON, augmented with special guests: Funk Brothers bassist Bob Babbitt, who played on some of Motown’s greatest hits, as well as horn arranger Jerry Hey, who worked with Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Earth, Wind and Fire and many more. The three-time Grammy-nominated band has been enjoying a massive resurgence in recent weeks as the response to the album’s first single and video, “Thinking ‘Bout Somethin’”, now available at all major digital outlets, has been rapturous, receiving rave reviews everywhere.

Hanson collaborate with soul veterans on new album
HANSON HAVE RECRUITED former Motown bass player Bob Babbitt and veteran horns arranger Jerry Hey for the fraternal trio’s first album in three years.
Shout It Out, which comes out on June 8, represents some of the most soulful work ever committed to record by the former child stars behind the monster 1996 hit Mmmbop.
Seven of the songs feature horn charts by Hey (Michael Jackson, Earth, Wind & Fire), while Babbitt (Ball of Confusion, The Tears of a Clown) guests on six tracks.
Isaac, 29, Taylor, 27 and Zac Hanson, 24, (seen below) produced the album during recording sessions in El Paso, their native Tulsa and Los Angeles.
“Y’know, we grew up listening to a lot of that early R&B stuff, especially ‘60s and ‘70s R&B,” Isaac Hanson told Billboard.com. “Otis (Redding) and countless others, and Motown…you forget how much horns played a part in a lot of really iconic kind of American R&B sound.
“And that also translated into more pop and singer-songwriter stuff we used to listen to, like Billy Joel’s An Innocent Man, which is one of his biggest records, there’s horns all over the place on that record. That was the stuff we grew up listening to and … really worked its way onto this record.”
The brothers said they “just wanted to have some fun” with the new album after what they called “challenging” sessions for 2007’s The Walk and 2004’s Underneath, which marked their return to the indie world.
Hanson will perform the first single, the dance tune Thinkin’ ‘Bout You, on CBS’ The Late Show with David Letterman and on NBC’s Today show. The group will perform at Bamboozle New Jersey on May 1 and then play eight dates on the Bamboozle Road Show later in the month.
Meanwhile, the trio is currently gearing up for a five-show run at New York’s Gramercy Theatre from April 26-30, each of which will feature a different one of Hanson’s last five albums played from start to finish. Isaac Hanson said the group plans to film and record the shows, though no release details have been determined. Live streams are also being considered.
Today Show Walk, Dance Music party, off for Monday due to rain! Good news: we’re here all week!
Unfortunately, we have decided we have to put the dance, walk, listening party at the today show on hold for the morning because of a not so pleasing forecast for rain and cold in the morning, but that’s not the end of the story.
This afternoon the whole team Hanson arrived in New York City; the band, the touring crew, the team of live streaming video peoples…and the production posse to put on the week long run of shows. Unfortunately, it was raining and that is the forecast for tomorrow (Monday) morning when we have been planning to invite you all to a big walk, dance, and listening party in the streets of New York City.
With a long (and exciting) week set with Five of Five, we decided it would be pretty dim of us to risk our health and yours when we are going into a brilliant week of shows that we have never done before, and are hoping to share with fans around the world.
If any of you have made plans you don’t want to change, to come down to the show, we would be happy to say hi after the show, and of course we love how much excitement and enthusiasm there has been for all the things going on in the last few weeks.
For those of you who choose to sit this morning show visit out, hang tight, we are hoping for some sunshine this week, so keep your eyes and ears pealed for another shot at our Walk,Dance,Music Party.
On another note. Tomorrow there will be some exciting announcements about the coming US Tour and live streaming so stay tuned
to Hnet!

HANSON, SHOUT IT OUT (June 8)
In the years since ”MMMBop,” the brotherly trio has become an accomplished pop-rock group. This is their first album since 2007 — and since lead singer Taylor Hanson made new fans by teaming with members of the Smashing Pumpkins, Cheap Trick, and Fountains of Wayne for the supergroup Tinted Windows last year.
NY Times
HANSON (Monday through Thursday) Although it once commanded a Jonas Brothersesque power over wheezing teenage girls (the drummer Zac Hanson was only 12 when the group’s jingly “MmmBop” topped charts worldwide), Hanson has evolved into a nuanced and largely respected musical outfit, embraced by members of the jam band circuit. For this string of shows, the band is performing past albums in their entirety: “Middle of Nowhere” on Monday, “This Time Around” on Tuesday, “Underneath” on Wednesday and “The Walk” on Thursday. At 7 p.m., Gramercy Theater, 127 East 23rd Street, Manhattan , (800) 745-3000, ticketmaster.com; $45. (Petrusich)
