HANSON is proud to announce the first two legs of their North American tour in support of their highly anticipated fifth record, Shout It Out. The announcement of the tour follows a whirlwind week of excitement for the band’s debut single, “Thinking ‘Bout Somethin’” which was released to digital outlets last Friday in conjunction with the premiere network television performance of the song on the Late Show with David Letterman, and the music video debut on Myspace, garnering praise from fans and critics alike including Perez Hilton, MTV, Entertainment Weekly, Absolute Punk and Salon. The video, featuring “Weird” Al Yankovic, was viewed over a million times in the first few days of release, and is still rising. The exuberant homage to classic film The Blues Brothers, recreates an iconic scene where the band’s soulful music incites over 300 people to dance in the street.

Billboard said that Shout It Out represents some of the band’s “most soulful work ever committed to record”, while Salon hailed that the new single “may be their finest moment yet”, Entertainment Weekly praised “Thinking ‘Bout Somethin’” as “a delicious, catchy slice of pop-soul”, and Idolator predicted, “don’t be surprised if there’s a Hanson revival in 2010”.

The first leg of the Shout It Out Tour begins July 21 with support from Rooney, and covers the east coast, south and midwest. The second leg, featuring A Rocket To The Moon, covers the southwest and west coast and begins September 14. The Shout It Out Tour also provides a platform for HANSON to continue their passion and support for independent music by partnering with OurStage to host an opening band contest in each market, where local indie artists can compete for the chance to share the stage with the band. Ben Campbell, CEO of OurStage, said “We are honored that HANSON approached OurStage to find emerging artists to perform as opening acts at local stops of their tour. HANSON has been a leader in the music industry for a long time as musicians and by running their own label, paving the way for other emerging artists seeking to make a name for themselves.”

HANSON is also excited to announce their partnership to create dynamic live streaming content with Livestream.com, beginning tonight with the band’s sold-out, five-night concert series at New York’s Gramercy Theatre. Each concert will feature the band performing one of their albums in its entirety, leading up to the worldwide debut of Shout It Out on the final night. The live streaming concert series will be viewable by the public on Hanson.net and Livestream.com as well as MSN.com. The live broadcast gives fans around the world the opportunity to be a part of the career-spanning event, and begins a series of exciting live streaming content to be continued throughout the rollout of Shout It Out.

“Our band has always been fuelled by a dynamic relationship with our fans, and the launch of live content with Livestream is going to open a new door for us to engage music fans wherever they are in real time through Livestream’s player which can be embedded anywhere from Facebook to Twitter and turn a broadcast into an online conversation,” said Taylor Hanson. Isaac added, “The live platform is where we think the future is for artists who want to really engage their fans.”

Shout It Out, to be released on HANSON’s own 3CG Records on June 8, was written and produced by HANSON, augmented with special guests: Funk Brothers bassist Bob Babbitt, who played on some of Motown’s greatest hits, as well as horn arranger Jerry Hey, who worked with Michael Jackson, Quincy Jones, Earth, Wind and Fire and many more. The three-time Grammy-nominated band has been enjoying a massive resurgence in recent weeks as the response to the album’s first single and video, “Thinking ‘Bout Somethin’”, now available at all major digital outlets, has been rapturous, receiving rave reviews everywhere.

Tulsa-grown pop and R&B trio Hanson will make several live TV appearances in coming days, the band’s official Web site shows.

First, watch brothers Ike, Zac and Taylor perform “Thinking ‘Bout Somethin’” Friday night on “The Late Show with David Letterman” on CBS.

Second, on Monday, they will be interviewed on NBC’s “Today” morning show and perform with a rumored “flash mob” of dancers. They will also do a barefoot walk to raise money for shoes and AIDS education and treatment for children in Africa.

The newest studio album is due June 8 on 3CG Records. The group also has sold out a five-night string of concerts at New York City’s Gramercy Theater, April 26-30, and will co-headline the The Bamboozle Festival on May 1 in New Jersey.

Hanson: forever young

By | April 29, 2010

Girls bounced in place as if possessed by Our Lady of Perpetual Motion — and the Gramercy Theater was charged with the kind of electricity reserved for the mega-stars.

But it wasn’t Gaga or Justin Beiber about to push the decibels; the girl-quake was for Hanson. Yes, Hanson, the Tulsa teen stars who “MMMBop”-ed their way to the top 13 years ago. At the first show of a five-night sold-out stand, the brothers — Isaac, Zac and Taylor — neatly demonstrated how they had survived their youth to become one of rock’s best-kept secrets.

A fan since ’97, 25-year-old Ashley Watson, from Seattle, said, “My friends still give me grief. Sometimes I think, ‘Oh, my God, what’s wrong with me?’ [But] then I listen to how good the music is, and I feel justified.” Many of the women in the audience agreed that they could still hear the boy in these men (Isaac is now 29, Zac, 24 and Taylor, 27), even though the music has veered from teen pop to rugged rock.

Opening night illustrated that transformation, with Hanson playing their multiplatinum debut record “Middle of Nowhere,” front-to-back. “MMMbop,” the second song on the album and in concert — earned the band huge cheers. Yet it was during “Speechless” and “Look at You,” both hard-rock pieces edged in funk, that the guys demonstrated why they’re still relevant.

The band, playing one of its albums in full per night, saves its latest CD, “Shout It Out,” for tomorrow. It’s due June 8 — but it’s already creating big buzz on the power of the first single, “Thinking ‘Bout Somethin’,” a horn-powered pop-soul tune. The MySpace music video for the song has been viewed more than 1 million times since its release last week.

Hanson was excellent — but not everyone was loving the performance. Brad O’Toole looked bored. “I’m more of a Linkin Park fan,” said the 25-year-old Australian. Turning toward his girlfriend he added, “This music is OK, but I’m here because of her.”

25 Must-Hear Artists at Bamboozle

By | April 28, 2010

Spin.com

HANSON

Hometown: Tulsa, OK
Why they matter: Even if people might never forget their infectious 1997 breakthrough hit “MMMBop,” the Hanson brothers have continued to release one even-more-impressive album after another, and built a devoted following in the process. Their fifth album, Shout It Out, hits stores June 8 — and the band will coast into Bamboozle after five nights of sold-out shows in New York City.
You should know: Keyboard-playing lead Hanson bro Taylor also played Bamboozle last year, but then he was fronting Tinted Windows, his side-project featuring members of Fountains of Wayne, Smashing Pumpkins, and Cheap Trick.

First she was "Pretty In Pink;" now Molly Ringwald wants to help you in "Getting The Pretty Back"

By | April 28, 2010

Jacksonville.com

This week, the Today show has been bringing back blasts from the pop culture past. Yesterday, it was brother-band Hanson on the show promoting their new album “Shout It Out,” which comes out in June.

You remember Hanson — Issac, Taylor and Zac: They first rose to fame in the ’90s when they were just teenagers (“Mmmbop,” anyone? Whether I like it or not, that song is part of the soundtrack of my childhood. Watch the video below and be transported back to 1997) and all 3 brothers are now married and have 7 kids between them.

And today, the Today show had Molly Ringwald, the Brat Pack-er who charmed us in ’80s John Hughes films like “Pretty In Pink”, “The Breakfast Club” and “Sixteen Candles.” (I totally had the poster of her sitting on the table with Jake Ryan and the birthday cake in my college apartment).

Now in her 40s, the actress who now stars on ABC Family’s “The Secret Life of the American Teenager” has written a book on dealing with the 40-something angst: “Getting The Pretty Back: Friendship, Family, and Finding the Perfect Lipstick.”

It’s got to be tough being forever immortalized as a teen idol in the minds of the public. Some would (and have) crumbled under the pressure of having their famous past image follow them.

But Ringwald told Meredith Viera that she’s avoided pitfalls because she’s a survivor. She looks great and stressed the importance of recharging her batteries to help her be a better mom.

Though some of us may not have climbed some of the mountains she has — motherhood, 40s and stardom — I bet we could take a page from her book. Who doesn’t want to get and keep their pretty (or handsome)?

Battle Of The Bros: J-Bros, H-Bros Coming To Raleigh

By | April 28, 2010

Music.MyNC

Oh what a glorious day for tween pop.

Lincoln Theatre has revealed that it will host late-90s pop sensations Hanson on July 31, while Walnut Creek will host Y2K pop sensations the Jonas Brothers on Oct. 17.

Let the battle begin.

Joining Hanson at the Downtown Raleigh venue will be Rooney; tickets for that show go on sale April 30 for $28 (!!!???) in advance or $30 the day of the show.

The trio, who exploded onto the pop music scene with 1997’s with the single “MMMBop,” is touring in support of its eighth studio album, Shout It Out, which will see a release June 8 through 3CG Records.

As far as the J-Bros go, they will be joined by fellow Disney property Demi Lovato at the Time Warner Cable Music Pavilion. Ticket information is not yet available, though ticket pre-sales for the tour begin May 15.

A press release about the J-Bros tour explains that fans can expect a show that “will combine spectacular production with unrivaled performances of both artist’s hits as well as music from the Disney Channel Original Movie, Camp Rock, and its highly anticipated sequel.”

Hanson has sold roughly 14 million records worldwide while Jonas Brothers have four fewer albums and sold more than 8 million records worldwide.
