NEW From The Band

This Week

Six days left before we finish mixing, and then all that is left is one day of mastering the album. Every day we start off by reviewing what we did the night before, making any last changes and then moving on to the next track on our list. Things have been going well for the last week, and it looks like we are going to stay on track and just finish on time. While we are not yet finished mixing, all of our minds are starting to think about the next and final step, mastering. During mastering we will have to pick the final order for the album, and the final track listing deciding what will and will not make the new album. It is a hard decision, and one which every member of the band has there own perspective, but like always we will battle through until we come to a consensus.

In addition to the new album getting ever closer to its completion we are also charging head long into the other projects that go with the new album. Starting next month we will be announcing the first leg of the World Tour, the release date for the single, album and album packages. We will be announcing the name of the album and name of the documentary about the recording of the album. We are really excited to have everything lined up together for maybe the first time ever after twenty years as a band.

FAN CLUB EXCLUSIVE Back To The Island 2014
Only a Few Rooms Left!

Year one of HANSON’s Back To The Island destination concert event was incredible, and what a great way to start the year! Now it’s official – HANSON and Island Gigs are inviting you to make plans to kick off 2014 with them and a worldwide gathering of music fans for the second event in beautiful Jamaica – Back To The Island 2014!!!

During Back To The Island 2013, it was incredible to see people from all corners of the world come together to share in music, food, fun and sunshine, against the backdrop of beautiful Jamaica. As well as HANSON sharing some rare musical moments during the three concerts, there was a meet & greet and photos with everyone attending, and the band took part in some fun Jamaican Island activities. 2014’s event is a chance both for many people to join the band for a second year, and for some new faces to make their way Back To The Island.

The 5-day event is an all-inclusive island experience (drinks, food and a wide offering of activities, as well as an exclusive private beach), at the beautiful Breezes Grand Resort, reserved for the Back To The Island Concert Event.

Throughout the week of fun and sun, there will be entertainment each night, featuring three performances from the band in different configurations from a stripped down acoustic set, to full electric sets, as well as special activities that the band will take part in. In addition the event will also feature two other special performances from artist friends that the band has invited to join the festivities. 2013’s event featured great music from good friends Robert Schwartzman and Charlie Mars (details of special guests for 2014 will be announced at a later date).

HANSON Day 2013 is coming up quickly and we want to make sure you do not miss out on any of the fun.

If you have not already check out the main HANSON Day 2013 Event page, make sure and check it out, it lists all that is happening on the HANSON Day weekend. This page will be updated as more details become available for each event.

HANSON Day Update: Gallery will include Custom Painted Guitars

For those of you that may have missed it Zac announced on Hanson.net that the HANSON Day Gallery will include Custom Painted Guitars.

The gears are turning as all the preparation for HANSON Day is being put into place.

In the spirit of sharing I wanted to show you one of the projects we have been working on. The HANSON Day Gallery. For the past few years we have been sharing more then just music, but have really tried to make sure the visual companions for each album and project tell you something about the music.

I got my hands on a handful of baby Taylor guitars and started playing around with different ways to customize them. Wood burning, creating stencils, using film negatives… It has been really fun for me to try something new I am looking forward to sharing them in person come MAY!

Note: I have had a lot of fans ask me about buy original art, unlike previous paintings I am planning to offer the guitars for sale.

The Movie Night features the first ever screening of HANSON’s documentary of the making of the their latest album. Four screenings have already sold out so get your ticket today!

This will be the 2nd Annual Bowling Tournament at HANSON Day, the tickets to the event include bowling with your team, a bowling shirt and the winning team receives a Championship Trophy. Let us know who your friends are that are bowling and we can have you on the same team or just sign up and we will match you with some new friends.

The ticket to the HANSON Concert is free to all members, all you have to do to attend is RSVP for the event and come to Tulsa on the day of the show.

Opening in Hansonstage staff: Fan of the Month

We are looking for someone to help out with the site with our Fan of the Month feature. The staff member will have to go through all Fan of the Month submissions and using random.org select a new fan of the month each month.  They must then contact the fan selected to ask if they would like to make any changes to their bio or submit a more up-to-date photo.  Fan of the Month posts must be posted on the first of each month.  The staff member will be given access to the fan of the month email account in order to do their job.

Hanson Host 90s on 9 Countdown: 1997

This weekend Hanson hosted Sirius XM’s 90s on 9 countdown of songs from 1997!  Here are some highlights –

They counted down the Top 30 songs from 1997

-Single next month (April)
-Album 6 in the summer
-Zac asked if they’d be on the countdown, Isaac said they’d probably be closer to the top
-They talked a bit about other happenings in 1997, such as the release of the first Harry Potter book
-Isaac said in an mmmbop they might find out if they were on the countdown
-Isaac did some King of the Hill impressions when they mentioned that show was new in 1997
-Taylor teased they only left the studio to catch us up on the songs of 1997
-They mentioned that the sample on No Diggity is actually Bill Withers
-Isaac has a sports moment and talks about Tiger Woods
-They talk a bit about Playstation – which came out in 1997 as well as Nintendo 64 and games they liked to play
-They did not make the countdown because MMMBop was not out yet this week in 1997, but they played it anyway
-#1 was Spice Girls – Wannabe

How Nikki Reed Snagged a Role in Hanson's New Video

Does this count as a triple threat? Twilight star Nikki Reed can now add video vixen to her resume. She scored a spot in the new Hanson video for their song “Get the Girl Back.” Yes, those MMMBop boys are still making music.

She and her friend Kat Dennings (2 Broke Girls), who’s also in the video, have been fans for years, but didn’t know about the other’s obsession. “We didn’t know we were Hanson fans until we both signed onto the video. It was a weird, secret obsession that we both had and kept to ourselves,” Reed said.

“I wrote [Hanson] fan mail. That’s how my relationship with them started. I mean, I love them. I wrote them fanmail in the hopes that they’d write me back, and Kat did the same thing,” she explained. “That’s how these relationships blossomed. And they called both of us… and then we both showed up to do this video. It could not be any funnier. Just because I see Kat every week. How did I not know this about her?”

Reed’s husband Paul McDonald is a big fan too, and had a cameo in the video. She’s collaborated with him before on a song for the Breaking Dawn Part 2 soundtrack.

“Regardless of whether or not you like ‘MMBop,’ we’re talking about three brothers who could not be more—they’re such polished musicians,” Reed said. “When you’re around them, you have to be inspired musically. They’re so talented.”

This Week

We are finished with the recording on the new album, now it is just a matter of putting the finishing touches on as we Mix the new album for the next few weeks and then master. Each step in the process of making an album becomes slightly more refined. Writing, Pre-Production, Basic Tracking, Over Dubs, Mixing, Mastering… all in the pursuit of that perfect sound. We have been planning and planning, and now we are just a few weeks away from getting to share all the details about Touring, the Album and Single release. April is going to be a big month so get ready!

Flashback Friday – Use Your Sole Tour 2009

The first friday of every month we are going to flashback to a past Hanson tour with the songs that were performed during each tour.  Check out the show(s) you went to on that tour to see if you have a ticket or setlist we don’t already have posted.  If you do, send it to tickets@hansonstage.com so we can try and get the site as accurate as possible!

Hanson’s Tour in 2009 was continuing to promote the album The Walk, but the new EP “Stand Up Stand Up” had just come out as well.  Each setlist included songs from the EP some of which would end up on Shout It Out.  The tour was 32 shows long over September, October and November.  They played a total of 627 songs with 62 of them being unique.
