Hi –
Well the ANTHEM World Tour is in full swing, and as we step into winter we are even more looking forward to an incredible getaway to Jamaica for the second Back To The Island Event.
Last year’s event was incredible, but as we are always trying to take it up a notch, we have a few more announcements about what the Back To The Island 2014 is going to entail.
Guest Artists!
We are proud to announce our two guest artists. After an amazing reception during the tour, it was an easy decision to invite our good friend Paul McDonald to join us. Paul is an incredible artist and we can’t wait to have him with us. Our second guest artist is another good friend, Matt Wertz! Matt most recently joined us on our last Australian tour, and everyone who saw those shows knows he puts on a really energetic show. We’re thrilled that he’s also going to join us.
Activities!
After hearing your feedback from last year we decided to change things up a bit for the special activities that we are hosting. For Zac’s special activity he is not only going to be Tie-Dying with you, but you will be able to customize your actual Back To The Island merch – that way each item Zac teaches you to dye by hand will be a special memento of the awesomeness of Back To The Island 2014. For Isaac’s event, he has decided to host a special Hancyclopedia Competition (beware, Isaac is the original Hancyclopedia, so you better bring your A-game). Lastly, Taylor is going to bring the late night jams, by hosting the first official aftershow party of Back To The Island, featuring a special DJ set – you better be ready to get your freak on!
More Live Music!
Now, for the most unique new announcement, we are also going to add three special shows which will be a first EVER in our band’s history. During the event, you attendees will be treated to a different mini solo concert from each member of the band. Over the years we have done a select solo song during many shows, but we have never hosted an entire set, exclusively as a solo performer. We hope you will be there to experience it with us!
We hope you are as excited about the coming party in Jamaica as we are. Remember there are only a few more rooms left, so if you haven’t already signed up, click here for more info and to book your spot! This is a fanclub exclusive event, but if you are not already a member it is easy to join as a part of your Jamaica package.
This event will truly be a celebration, and we hope you are there to kick off the new year with us!
We will see you on the Island –

HANSON 2011 – Musical Ride Tour, Epcot – Orlando FL
We are excited to be returning to Epcot at Walt Disney World this year for another fun series of shows, at the start of next week. Here we are on a past performance in full storm trooper suits in honor of Halloween. How did you celebrate the holiday this year? Tell us about it.
If you still know Hanson as the three fresh-faced adolescents who gave us the hit song “MMMBop” in 1996, here’s a dose of perspective: This year the band reaches drinking age, and the brothers are celebrating with their own craft beer.
While the group has been around for 21 years, the brothers are well beyond that. The oldest, guitarist Isaac Hanson, turns 34 this month. On Monday and Tuesday, he joins brothers Taylor, 30, and Zac, 28, for concerts at Epcot’s International Food & Wine Festival, where they have performed for the past few years. Performances are at 5:30, 6:45 and 8 p.m. each day and are included with park admission.
“Taylor in particular is a big foodie,” says Isaac. “It’s kind of an easy gig for us, in the sense that we get do do three relatively short shows each day, then get the chance to eat some good food.”
Hanson has toured relentlessly in support of their six studio albums and they have cultivated more than a taste for good food along the way. The entreprenurial brothers have donated funds to charity efforts through sales of their own coffee (Kikombe Cha Kutoa), and this year they released their own craft beer, an American Pale Ale cheekily titled “Mmmhops.”
“We’re big beer fans and really appreciate the differences and wide varieties of beer you can find, especially local and regional beers that are popping up all over the country,” says Isaac. “When we show up in a city, we ask, ‘Where’s the best restaurant? What’s the best beer?’ You start doing that, and you get exposed to a lot of great stuff.”
So far, the brothers are keeping their brewing efforts close to their home state of Oklahoma. Mmmhops was launched this month by regional microbrewery Mustang Brewing. So far, the beer is available in Oklahoma and select venues in the Midwest. Still, Isaac isn’t ruling out an expansion.
“We had the beer at a show in Kansas and two in Chicago, and it sold out in a heartbeat,” he says. “Audience response to the beer was really, really good and luckily, I haven’t had anybody walking up to me saying they hate it. Knock on wood.”
The brothers were raised in Tulsa, and that’s also where they recorded Hanson’s latest album “Anthem,” which hit number 22 on the Billboard charts this year on the strength of the energetic single “Get the Girl Back.” It’s a song that showcases not only the signature harmonies of the band, but also shows new fans that these “boys-to-men” have been infusing their pop with R&B long before artists such as Amy Winehouse brought the style back in vogue.
“I like to think that is not coincidence,” says Issac. “I like to think that was us reading the tea leaves right, for lack of a better way to say it.
“We wanted to make sure that [R&B influence] was still a part of ‘Anthem,'” he says. “But as we went into it, there were things that went in a little more of a rock direction as well.”
In an age where so much pop has a shelf life as short as an adolescent’s attention span, we’ll drink to that.

If anyone has any guesses for the lyrics to this song – leave a comment. Another team effort to figure out what they are 🙂
Let me tell you a story about a boy who broke the golden rule
Never be alone on Halloween night
He decided to stay home and give candy to Trick or Treaters
He didn’t want a costume or go to a party
As the candy emptied and he turned off the porch light to go to bed
He realized he wasn’t alone at all
There’s something underneath my bed
And I don’t think that this is in my head
I’m in a tragedy
I stayed home alone on Halloween
And now the fear has taken hold of me
Will I be a feast? It’s a mystery
Is it man or beast
oh let me go
As that boy turned around he knew he had made a grave mistake
Cuz the worst would be a foot
He wished for a silver bullet or a stake, anything to fend the beast of the night off
But that was the last night he would see as a human
So let me give this advice
Never break the golden rule
There’s something underneath my bed
And I don’t think that this is in my head
I’m in a tragedy
I stayed home alone on Halloween
And now the fear has taken hold of me
Will I be a feast? It’s a mystery
Is it man or beast
I’m in a tragedy

What is the very first memory of Hanson that you have?:
Seeing a picture of them in a magazine towards the end of 1996.. i just remember seeing it and going “ohhhh, cute boys”.. lol
How many times have you seen Hanson in concert? Favorite concert
memory?:
26 times.. one of my favorite concert memories would have to definitely be getting reporter in 2008 during the Walk Around The World tour. I never expected that to happen to me.. AT ALL… and during the interview, them singing some Bee Gees to me was pretty amazing =)
What is your favorite Hanson song, and why?:
oh that is so hard for me to say. Because i can relate to sooooo many of their songs. I guess i will just go with my favorite song off of Underneath which is When You’re Gone. The first time i heard that song, i fell in love with it. The lyrics, the music, just everything about the song pulled me in.. But in all honesty it is VERY hard for me to just pick on song.
Why do you like/love Hanson?:
I love them because they never fed into everything with being a major music success.. They could have done so many things but they chose not to because it was more about the music for them.. They didn’t care about doing things that some artists did back then and still do today.. They were always true to themselves and wrote all of their own music and played the instruments themselves. My respect for them grew even more when they broke away from the major label and started 3CG. That was a huge risk for them. Im so glad it was a successful risk. Their charitable work for AIDS/poverty in Africa is inspiring. Their simple actions as well as us, the fans actions with the walks, have made impacts over their in communities and its just amazing to see people coming together to help. I could keep going but i think i will leave it at that so i don’t write a book =)
How long have you been a Hanson fan?:
oh since 1996
Why should you be FAN OF THE MONTH?:
Im a music feen. I love supporting bands/artists that i love. Im always letting people that aren’t really fans listen to new music the guys put out to see ihow they react. Especially if those people hear something that they weren’t expecting and seeing their reaction like “wow, that was a really cool song”.. I know with No Sleep For Banditos, ive actually had a non fan say that the song “No Sleep For Banditos” made her zone out and just get lost in the song.. which i totally wasn’t expecting that because i really thought that she wouldn’t like any of it..But its always so cool when you can turn someone on to music that you really didn’t think that they would like it. I love getting independent artists music out their for others to hear.. i love promoting music, especially Hanson
State a piece of trivia in regards to you & Hanson (optional):
I was given a long lecture by Zac on the importance of sleep after not sleeping for 63 hours
Zac has posted a new Halloween song in the blog section of Hanson.net on the Members Only side 🙂
Zac Hanson welcomed his third child into the world Oct. 17, the drummer from hanson told People magazine. MIKE SIMONS/Tulsa World file
There’s a new Hanson in town.
Zac Hanson told People magazine Thursday that he and his wife, Kate, welcomed son George Abraham Walker Hanson into the world on Oct. 17.
Zac Hanson plays drums in the Tulsa-based band Hanson with his brothers, Taylor and Issac.
The latest addition to the family joins brother John Ira Shepherd, 5, and Junia Rosa Ruth, 2 1/2, according to People.
“Abraham is healthy and we are happily sharing a little down time together as a family,” Zac Hanson told People.
