In 2014 we are looking to have daily features Monday – Friday and are looking for your submissions.  Submissions can be sent to blog@hansonstage.com.

Music Monday – Music Mondays in 2014 will be all about covers.  There are 3 different things were are looking for:

1. A song you’d like Hanson to cover.  Let us know what song you think Hanson should cover. Old, new, doesn’t matter, just make sure you let us know who the original performer is so we can include a video.

2. Your favorite song Hanson has covered.  What song has Hanson covered that you have loved and hope they continue to perform it? Let us know.

3. Someone else covering Hanson.  Have you or another band covered a Hanson song and thing that it is a great rendition? Link us to a video and we will share it.

Trivia Tuesday – Tuesday will be all about the trivia. If you think you have a stumper of a question (we’d prefer for it to be concert related since we are HansonStage, but not required) email it to us. Please be sure to include the answer! You can also include multiple choice (up to 4) if you’d like.

Wednesday Photo of the Week – We will continue to post a photo of the week each Wednesday. If you have any from the 2013 tour that you think are worthy, send them to us.  You can send up to 5 per concert and be sure to let us know when they were taken! Please only send photos taken by you. (unless the photo is of you and a Hanson and a friend took it, that’s ok!)

What is the very first memory of Hanson you have?
The middle of nowhere CD and Three Car Garage

How many times have you seen Hanson in concert? Favorite concert memory?
I have seen them 4 times when they come to Argentina. In 2000 at Luna Park, in 2005 at the Grand Rex, in 2011 in the college theater (now Vorterix) and July 18 2013 in Verterix again! All the performances were beautiful but the last show was great!

What is your favorite Hanson song and why?
MMMBop – it reminds me of 15 years of all the crazy things I’ve done for them. And it is like the anthem for them, everything explodes. I just love all the songs!

Why do you like/love Hanson?
I love that they have marked my life since childhood and that their life is music

How long have you been a fan of Hanson?
For 15 years I’ve been a fan, I was 11.

Why should you be fan of the month?
Because I love them and all my time is spent listening to them and following them!

Hanson’s Mmmhops beer now in three states, new styles planned

In the next year, Hanson said they want to create small-batch brews and expand their brand, adding an India Pale Ale and possibly an Oktoberfest-style beer. But the anchor is Mmmhops. Hanson said they hope the beer’s popularity will spread from coast to coast, but they don’t want it to lose touch with its Oklahoma roots.

The brand is now available for sale across Oklahoma and at select retailers in IL, KS and soon MI.

Happy Thanksgiving!

This year (like every year) we at hansonstage are thankful for YOU – the Hanson fans who continue to check out our page, submit photos, tickets and setlists and interact with us on twitter and facebook.  We have some new features we are working on for the site – some you will find out about soon (and not Hanson soon – the post is scheduled and ready to go in just a few days!) and some are still in the works and will hopefully be revealed at some point in 2014!

Fans of Hanson got a special treat as Taylor Hanson helped celebrate the beer of the month at Leon’s.

In Tuesday at Leon’s, 3301 S. Peoria Ave. in Brookside a beer of the month was announced.  This isn’t just any beer.  It is from our hometown rock stars Hanson.

Taylor Hanson was nice enough to sit down and talk about beer with me before the official visit to promote Mmmhops at the restaurant.  Taylor and his brother Isaac collaborated with Mustang’s brewmaster Gary Shellman to produce Mmmhops. The beer is well-balanced American pale ale that is easy to drink with a nice malt and hop balance.

I am not sure why there were so many ladies there, I am guessing they found out I was going to be there. OK, OK, more likely they heard that Taylor Hanson was going to show up.  All of them were eager to tell me their Hanson stories.  One had seen all of their concerts at Cain’s Ballroom, another has been a fan since the second grade.  A group of ladies had ordered Cosmos but promised me they were getting Mmmhops next. I watched and they did.

Taylor has been around the world so he knows about beers and community.    “Beer is one of those things like apple pie, it is one of the great bonding compounds that go with life all over the world, but in America that hey I am going to have a cold beer after a long day, is something that brings people together.  It literally brings people from all walks together from your pastor to a biker to a 22-year-old college guy — everybody can still raise a glass together.” Taylor said.

Taylor is all about community.  He brings people together with his music and wants to do that with his beer.  “ I hope with Mmmhops we can actually get these kinds of people to mingle, beer is something people can share.”

“We are trying to encourage people to walk down from the grocery store, find the liquor store and try something that is different.  It is about cultivating the Oklahoma craft beer scene as much as it is about increasing the outreach to try different beer that they might not know it s is even out there.”

From the crowd last night, I do think they will follow Hanson to whatever they may create.  The Hansons are getting ready to leave Tulsa and head to the UK and Europe for concerts and I am sure to promote their beer too.http://www.hanson.net/site/sections/22

Teen Beat, Tiger Beat, 16, Bop: these tween rags introduced us to all our first crushes. Every Tuesday, we remember the dudes that decorated our photo binders. This week, we look back at Hanson, three boys who made us like “Mmmyep!”

Names: Isaac Hanson, Zachary Hanson, Jordan Taylor Hanson. Isaac was the oldest, and played guitar and sang. Zac, the youngest, was always behind the drums, while Taylor sang and played everything else.

We Called Them: Ike, Zac, and Taylor. Some of our friends just called Taylor their boyfriend, and once he stopped looking so much like a girl, we agreed.

 

How Old Are They Now: Oldest bro Isaac just turned 33 (born November 17, 1980). Taylor hit the big 3-0 this year (born March 14, 1983). Little bro Zac is now 28 (born October 22, 1985).

Claims to Fame: Their song “MMMBop” was, like, our third favorite in 1997. Released on their album Middle of Nowhere, the Tulsa-raised brothers had just the right mix of wholesomeness, age variety, and long hair to make us feel like we totally got the “rock ‘n roll” thing.

 

Why We Loved Them: They were everywhere, in every magazine, on every radio station, and they were always smiling. Plus, just look at Taylor. He’s so fetch.

What They’re Up To Now: They’re still a band. Seriously, 16 years later. They took time off to make families, and they did it pretty thoroughly, but they have been on tour, with mixed results.

Zac married a woman named Kathryn Tucker in 2006, after meeting her in 2001, when he was only 16. They now have three kids: John Ira “Shepherd” (born May 27, 2008), Junia Rosa Ruth (born December 15, 2010), and George “Abraham” Walker (born October 17, 2013).

On a recent tour, promoting new album Anthem,a man spat in Zac’s face as the boy bander tried to kick him off the bus. With three kids, the mess probably didn’t bother him that much.

Taylor made another music career in 2009, when he joined together with members of Cheap Trick, Smashing Pumpkins, and Fountains of Wayne (remember them?) to form Tinted Windows. The band released the album, but we all know no one is as good as Hanson.

On the new family front, he’s been super busy. In 2000, he met a woman named Natalie Bryant at one of his shows. They dated for two years and then got hitched in 2002, when he was 19 and she was 18. They now have FIVE KIDS! Jordan Ezra “Ezra” Hanson (born in 2002), Penelope “Penny” Anne Hanson (born in 2005), River Samuel (born in 2006), Viggo Moriah (born in 2008) and Wilhelmina “Willa” Jane Hanson (born in 2012).

And the younger bros aren’t the only two popping em out. Elder bro Isaac has had a coupla kids himself. He too met his wife on tour, a woman named Nicole Dufresne. They got hitched in 2006 and have sense had two kids, Clarke “Everett” (born on April 3, 2007), and James “Monroe” (born on July 1, 2008).

On the health front, Ike has been less blessed. He was hospitalized in 2003 for a blood vessel condition caused by strumming the guitar, and again in 2007 with a pulmonary embolism.

Together, the boys released “Mmmhops,” an IPA beer in May 2013, at the Hangover 3 after party. Get it? Got it? Good.
