Hanson is in talks with the Tulsa Development Authority to build a brewery and studio in the Brady Arts District.
Paperwork shows the group’s record label as overseeing the project that would be housed where the LA King building is currently located on North Boston Avenue downtown.
The TDA would provide $2 million in loans to help develop the brewery and recording studio that would also house retail and office space.
The News On 6 has reached out to Walker Hanson for more details on the project.
Amy Conway was named editor-in-chief of Martha Stewart Weddings in January of this year after serving as an editor-at-large for Martha Stewart Living. Her new position has her traveling a lot on business—often spending almost as much time at airports as she does on the ground. She also attends more than her fair share of weddings, and still gets emotional when she hears the vows.
The St. Louis native, who’s now based in Pelham, New York, has two teenagers at home, son Luca, 15 (pictured with Conway at Maine’s Acadia National Park this summer) and Virginia,13. The family also has two cats and one pug. “Funnily enough,” she says, “the pug’s name is Minerva, or Min for short.” (We just may have to adopt her as our brand’s mascot!) Now that Conway’s free time is at a premium, here’s how she spends it wisely—and how you can spend your money smartly when planning a wedding or honeymoon.
Song that gets you moving: My favorite workout mix is, uh, quite eclectic and includes these gems (don’t judge me):
“Mr. Brightside” by the Killers; “MMMBop” by Hanson; “It’s a Beautiful Day” by Michael Bublé; and the theme song from “Footloose.”
Because I have been a Hanson fan for too damn long, I will save us all the obligatory “MMMBop” pun and instead get straight to the point: Hanson is working on a new Christmas album and no doubt it will be the holiday masterpiece fans have been waiting for since Snowed In, the band’s 1997 Christmas record (a straight-up classic that the guys still break out in concert around the holiday).
Producer Mark Hudson, who worked with Hanson on their first three albums (including Snowed In), has been sharing plenty o’ grams with the band over the past several days, documenting the album-making process and throwing in a few hintity hint hints along the way.
“It was 20 years ago today. Doing another Christmas album with my boys! @taylorhansonmusic Taylor, Ike, Za[c],” he captioned a group shot with the band of brothers. Another video Hudson posted perhaps provides a little insight into what fans can expect on the album, which features the guys harmonizing a little of Paul McCartney’s “Wonderful Christmas Time” (which, oddly enough, sounds exactly like the beginning of Hanson’s “Thinkin’ Bout Something” in the clip).
“Simply having, a wonderful Hanson time,” Hudson captioned the video:
The band revealed in their most recent newsletter that they are currently in pre-production for the record, and even offered a hint at what the album title could be.
“We have already whittled the potential track list down to 20 songs (when you include original songs) and we still have a lot of hard decisions to make, but it will all be worth it when this Wintery Mix is finished,” Hanson wrote.
For those who have been out of the Hanson loop for a little while (unforgivable TBH, this band and their pop-rock-driven harmonies should absolutely be on your radar), Isaac, Taylor and Zac released their last full-length album, Anthem, in 2013. In addition to this Christmas record, the band is currently finishing up their EP Play (an accompaniment to their EP Loud, which they released earlier this year), and recently told E! News that they have a few things up their sleeves for their upcoming 25-year anniversary as a band.
And while you probably have “MMMBop” on your mind while reading this post, here’s your reminder that, yes, Hanson still sings their 1997 hit almost 20 years later, and yes, it sounds even better acoustic:
Tonight, we share another peek into the studio on Hanson.net from our special streams showing the making of our two EP’s, Loud and Play. Don’t forget to check it out tonight at 6 pm Central!
MESSAGE FROM THE BAND
We are now up to our ears in music preparation and pre-production for a new Christmas album. If you’re wondering, yes, it is a little odd singing about snow when the outside temperature in Oklahoma is still in the high 80’s, but Snowed In was recorded in the UK in the summer of 1998 so it is not our first time around this block. To be fair, an English summer seems so much more pleasant when compared to the sometimes spirit-crushing sunburn factory we inhabit here in the new world. I guess we are just getting a taste for what Christmas must be like down under where Santa Claus gets a cold beer and a slice of watermelon. We have already whittled the potential track list down to 20 songs (when you include original songs) and we still have a lot of hard decisions to make, but it will all be worth it when this Wintery Mix is finished.
Tonight, we are sharing another behind the scenes stream from the making of Play. It will be more music, more nonsense and a little bit of trivia in there somewhere. Letting members come into the studio and watch the way we make music is a way for us to share a deeper connection to our songs. Knowing where the music came from or the alt lyrics that are only sung between friends is like us giving you a gift that you can never return no matter how hard you try. You’re welcome!
If you are a Hanson.net member, make sure to checkout the HANSON Asks section and answer the Loud Play Vinyl Contest question. Correct answers will be entered for a chance to win a special signed test pressing of the Loud Play Vinyl.

When your favorite band or artists puts out a single that sticks with you throughout the day you don’t mind it too much. However, when it’s an awful pop song, it could drive you crazy.
On the fifth anniversary of Carly Rae Jepsen releasing “Call Me Maybe,” we take a look at some of the catchiest and most annoying hit songs ever recorded.
NOTE: In case some of these songs get trapped in your brain, you can try things like listening to the song all the way through, reading the lyrics or even Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You.”
Hanson – “Mmmbop”
Before Eiffel 65 introduced the world to their jibberish song, Hanson launched themselves into pop culture with “Mmmbop.”
If you thought the chorus for “Blue” made no sense, check out what it was on “Mmmbop.”
“Mmmbop, ba duba dop/Ba du bop, ba duba dop/Ba du bop, ba duba dop/Ba du, yeah/Mmmbop, ba duba dop/Ba du bop/ ba du dop/Ba du bop/ba du dop/Ba du, yeah.”
Who would’ve thought a song that sounded like it was being sang to babies would go on to be a mega hit.
The song went on to be No. 1 in 27 countries in 1997 thanks to it’s poppy, upbeat sound which was sang by three teenagers.
The top 10 was rounded out with ‘Aquarium’ by cartoon pop group Aqua, Bruce Willis’s vanity project ‘The Return of Bruno’, One Direction’s ‘Take Me Home’, ‘JLS’ by JLS and ‘Mmmbop: The Collection’ by Hanson.
