Hanson: Behind the Sessions
In anticipation of the June 8 release of their new album, ‘Shout It Out,’ Hanson recently took over AOL’s New York headquarters for a live performance at Sessions.
The cameras were rolling as Zac, Taylor and Isaac Hanson entered the office, catching footage of the them in the green room, on the set of their photo shoot and live in the studio. The trio played five ‘Shout It Out’ songs, including the catchy, cowbell-driven single, ‘Thinking ‘Bout Somethin’,’ which originally premiered right here at PopEater.
Get a sneak peek at the Sessions experience in the exclusive video after the jump. The full performance will be launching on May 27.

Music on TV This Week: The Black Keys
The Black Keys loosen up while Janelle Monae tightens down. Plus: No to Hanson, yes to John Prine.
Akron, Ohio’s The Black Keys have been playing their version of the blues for six albums now, but they’ve never sounded looser than on their latest, the excellent Brothers. Guitarist Dan Auerbach and drummer Patrick Carney took the stripped-down Zeppelin approach as far as they could for four albums and have been expanding their sound ever since. They called on Danger Mouse to produce their last album (Attack & Release, and seem to have taken what they learned and stretched things out even more (just check out the falsetto on the opener “Everlasting Love,” for starters).
The Black Keys will be likely performing the combination of “Tighten Up” (the one Danger Mouse joint on the album) and “Next Girl” on The Late Show with David Letterman Tuesday and Late Night with Jimmy Fallon Wednesday. And I don’t think it’s a stretch to think that The Roots will lend a hand to the duo in some fashion for the latter.
Meanwhile, I was all set to make a big deal about those ‘MMMBop’pers Hanson being back, but then I looked into it some more and realized that they actually came back in 2007 with The Walk and it didn’t take. It’s three years (and some Tinted Windows) later and the brothers have another album coming, titled Shout it Out. I confess I don’t care about this either, and they’re playing The Tonight Show With Jay Leno on Wednesday night, which makes me care even less. Instead, let me I suggest checking out genuine songwriting legend John Prine performing on Letterman that same night, with the added bonus of having My Morning Jacket’s Yim Yames with him. He performs in support of his latest release, In Person & On Stage, out tomorrow.
Finally, we sang the praises of Janelle Monae to you just last week, but after seeing her face-melting performance on Letterman (video below), we must push this unique artist on you once again. The tiny Atlanta native performs three times this week, so there’s plenty of opportunity for you to catch her James Brown from another planet act. Monae will be shaking and singing on Ellen Wednesday, Lopez Tonight on Thursday night, and ending the week with an in concert look in on Last Call with Carson Daly.
Photos: Bamboozle Roadshow @ Merriweather Post Pavilion
If you’ve ever wished the beer lines at Merriweather were shorter, just go during Warped Tour or the Bamboozle Roadshow, when the only people old enough to buy alcohol in the whole amphitheater are parents, staff, and some of the musicians. While you’re at it, you might learn a little something about pop-punk, power-pop, the fact that Hanson still exists, and other things you’ve been dying to know more about.
Lots of photos from last Friday’s festival after the jump and at the full gallery.
(There are more Hanson photos at the full gallery so be sure to check those out!)

There has been some chatter about us being a bit quiet over the last week or so, but mostly we have been hard at work finishing the huge list of custom paintings for the Platinum Packages as well as preparing for the upcoming shows and some exciting livestreaming broadcasts! Last week we had a blast joining Conan O’Brien on his Tulsa stop during the “Legally Prohibited From Being Funny On Television” Tour. Not only was it hilarious but we had an amazing time playing with Conan and the band and hanging out after the show which we broadcasted on aLive@hnet. Check out a blog we posted with a bit of the performance and some of the after-show hang (Here) and you can also check out the full livestream that can be viewed on the aLive page – hanson.net/alive.

I know many people are thinking, “What is a DeTour?” basically think of an awesome road trip filled with music and randomness! It is a way for us to share the spirit of this band and the things that inspire us and it’s also a great way to bring together our excitement and interaction with all the fans all over the world through livestreams, as we prepare for the release of Shout It Out in the US. There are lot’s of things coming up, Shout It Out!
