Hanson Brothers have a new release next week, but it isn’t a song. It is a beer.

Some of you may have already had an opportunity to try it during the Hop Jam Beer Festival. The official release of the farmhouse ale, which is called Hop Jam Festive Ale, will be at Fassler Hall, 304 S. Elgin Ave., at 6 p.m. Thursday.

For most, a visit to www.mmmhops.com reveals what appears to be another craft beer company, trying to squeak by in this new craft beer age on sincere brewing techniques and a devotion to hoppier beer. One might even see the banner that says “Hanson Brothers Beer Company” and not think anything of it. But a more in depth analysis reveals that the Hanson Brothers Beer Company is actually composed of everyone’s favorite bowl cut ‘90s pop trio.

Yes, “Mmmbop” hit makers Hanson have also joined the increasingly popular craft beer craze in an attempt to squeeze out the last bit of nostalgia around their 1997 smash. Mmmhops, the premiere beer fromHanson Brothers Beer Company, is described as a “full bodied pale ale with a unique toasted malt signature and a refreshing hoppy finish.” The Hanson Brothers beer is available mostly in their native Oklahoma, but also throughout the midwest. Pale Ales go great with a host of grilled meats, so pair an Mmmhop with a grilled steak or pork loin. I won’t ask you to listen to “Mmmbop” while drinking it. You’re welcome.

Aside from having all the fun that comes from wearing a livery collar – that’s the actual name for those fancy chains that Mayors get to wear – it’s important for the highest-ranking official in a municipal government, such as that of a city or a town, to meet the public.

Anniversaries are always a happy occasion and for the people of Armagh, they came out in force to celebrate the 40th birthday of the Rushmere Shopping Centre in Craigavon.

To mark the occasion, they made an all singing, all dancing video that featured the Lord Mayor of Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council, Garath Keating.
