Diehard Hanson fans spend the night outside The Queen to see 90s pop idols perform for charity

The Hansons – and their fans – are in their 30s, but still going strong

It’s been 22 years since Hanson released its hit song “MMMbop,” but the band — and its fans — are still going strong, with several of the so-called Fansons even spending the night outside The Queen in Wilmington to see the trio perform on Thursday.

“It’s not our first time doing this either, that’s the sad part,” New Yorker Kelli Fisher said, volunteering to talk for the group.

She had been camped outside the theater since 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, not for tickets, but to get a spot near the stage. She and nearly a dozen other fans were in line with chairs and blankets Thursday morning.

Hanson was scheduled to perform at The Queen at 8 p.m. in 93.7 WSTW’s annual Help Our Kids Radiothon concert. For every ticket sold, $3 will go Nemours/A.I.duPont Hospital for Children, according to the radio station.

“I would go regardless, but that’s a nice incentive,” Fisher said.

Fansons, like the Hanson brothers themselves, are now in their 30s, but haven’t lost any of their ardor for the Oklahoma pop-rock band, Fisher said.

Fisher estimated that she’s been to as many as 100 Hanson concerts, starting with her very first in New York at age 8. She’s also been to special island destination concerts in Jamaica.

She’s been following the band for so long that her relationship with the Hansons has changed, she said. While many early Hanson fans thought the brothers were cute and had crushes on them, the brothers are now married and have kids.

Now, it’s a deep appreciation for their music that keeps her coming back for more.

“I know I don’t have a chance with them,” Fisher said. “You just go for the music.

“(The concerts) haven’t changed much, because the fans are still crazy.”

She’s not the only one obsessed with their music. Among those waiting in line on Thursday were fans from Detroit, Toronto, Seattle and more.

Many have run into each other several times, at other concerts. Some of their favorite songs are among the band’s more recent, like “Joyful Noise,” which provides a good example of how much the band has matured musically.

“To be honest, I don’t think they’ll ever stop doing concerts,” Fisher said. “Because their fans are very loyal and dedicated.”

WILMINGTON, Delaware (WPVI) — It’s been 22 years since they “Mmmbop-ed” into our hearts, and the Hanson brothers are still going strong.

Their tour is stopping in Wilmington, Delaware Thursday night and people have been lined up to get front row.

The concert is at the Queen Theater.

Fans of the 90s pop group arrived Wednesday and slept on the street, all to ensure they get as close as they can to the singers.

Tonight’s show starts at 8 and it’s a benefit concert.

Proceeds will go to Nemours Alfred I. Dupont Hospital for Children.

WEEKLY PIC

This month we’ve got studio time on the brain. This pic takes us back to Anthem when we were getting all set up to lay down our first notes for that record. Excited to share the next.

MESSAGE FROM THE BAND

It’s an exciting time in Tulsa. We continue to write and do pre-production for Against the World. At this point, there more songs than we can easily keep track of and they’re all in contention for one of those coveted spots on a new project. Having a lot of music is a good thing because we are not just writing for one album, we are thinking about everything we plan to release between now and our 30th anniversary in 2022 which is both liberating and daunting all at the same time.

We are hoping to share some of this new music on stage during a string of US tour dates in the fourth quarter of this year. We’re not ready to share details, but you should expect to know more in a few months. Until then, Hanson.net members can enjoy a double dose this week from the recording of In Real Life while we all look forward to 2020, a world tour, a new album, and generally just Better Days!

WEEKLY PIC

Music work is in progress, which means a whole lot of ’Thinking Face’ time. So many possibilities.

MESSAGE FROM THE BAND

All work and no play makes HANSON a very productive set of boys… men… people. This week has been wall to wall music, writing songs and getting ready to get into the studio next month to start recording new music for 2020. When you are in the moment, it can be missed how the stories told in each song have a shared perspective, no matter when or where they began their life. Hearing ideas that have been around for years find a home; it is clear that some songs are just waiting for their moment to shine.

We are sharing more video from the making of In Real Life this week and this one you might never forget even if you want to. All we can say is Kazoo… Your welcome!

Hanson to appear on Neighbours next week

By Katie | August 6, 2019

Hanson is scheduled to appear on the soap opera “Neighbours” on August 13 which they filmed when they were down under on the String Theory tour earlier this year.  The following are some articles about their appearance – please note these may contain spoilers for those of you who watch the show regularly:

NEIGHBOURS SPOILER: Jess Glynne and Hanson appear next week [Entertainment Daily]

The music festival episodes kick off on August 12, and MMMBop hitmakers Hanson – made up of brothers Isaac, Zac and Taylor Hanson – are set to deliver an impromptu performance in Harold’s cafe for one of the soap’s loved-up couples.

Taylor added: “We fitted into a story that was written around us performing so it worked really well. We feel quite honoured.”

Neighbours’ Kyle, Amy and Gary love triangle finally ends with one last twist [Digital Spy]

Neighbours finally reveals who Amy Williams ends up with next week – and boyband Hanson will be playing a surprising role in the storyline.

Gary also soon discovers that Kyle has thoughtfully arranged for Amy to attend a private performance from boyband Hanson, who are in Erinsborough for a local music festival.

It’s a bittersweet moment as Amy and Kyle mark the beginning of their reunion at the Hanson performance – the end of one relationship is the start of another.

‘Mmmbop’ singers Hanson filmed their cameo on set at Neighbours in February.

HANSON: Diving Into Song Ideas

By Katie | August 2, 2019

WEEKLY PIC

Putting the “garage” into 3 Car Garage Studios…

MESSAGE FROM THE BAND

Earlier this year, we shared with Hanson.net members some of our plans for music in 2020 and 2021, and how we are looking at the project in a different light. We want to invite people to be more than a fan of an album. We want to share music in a way that we are always looking forward to what’s just over the horizon. Music should be like a good friend you always look forward to seeing because no matter where you meet up, good times will be had by all.

This week, we have been getting revved up diving into song ideas of all kinds, songs you jump out of bed thinking about, ideas long overdue pulled from the vault and almost everything in between.  We write songs in every which way; the only real guiding principle is it’s not done until it’s right. How long that will take is anyone’s guess.  If you’re a Hanson.net member, you can get  a first hand glimpse at the writing process with another behind the scenes video posted today from the writing of Reading Your Mind off of In Real Life. We hope you enjoy the video and we can’t wait to share more about new music and tours all over in 2020.
