MESSAGE FROM THE BAND
Last week, we played String Theory in its entirety for the first time. Actually, we played it twice. First in Pittsburgh, PA and then at Wolf Trap in VA. It was over the top! This show is not like anything we have done. If you need proof, it has an intermission! The interaction with the crowd is also really different. One part is that the symphony compels you to listen in a new way, you have to pay attention to hear all of their parts, the other part is the songs. String Theory builds slowly, it takes three or four songs to get up to full speed and it has more than one quiet slow moment, but every song is important to the story and by the end, you really feel ready to sing and clap and add your voice to the growing choir. The response from crowds so far have been everything we hoped for.
Speaking of songs, we are a few weeks into mixing the String Theory album. It is interesting how difficult it can be to find the right balance with so many parts attempting to fill the same space, but when each song finally reaches completion it is pretty magical. We just completed Yearbook, and it might have taken 20+ years, but we really gotta find out what happens to this Johnny kid.
We are playing two shows this weekend. Since these are not String Theory concerts, it will be a great change of pace to let our hair down and just play a rock show. Hope to see you all in Indiana and Wisconsin.
