Hanson headlines first-ever Tulsa SXSW showcase

TULSA, Okla. – Quick Facts:

  • The Tulsa Office of Film, Music, Arts and Culture announced expanded presence at South by Southwest
  • The Austin-based festival invited FMAC to present the 2017 Tulsa Music Showcase
  • the Tulsa Boom Factory day party runs 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 16
  • Hanson headlines the Tulsa Music Showcase from 7 p.m. to 2 a.m. the same day
  • Both events happen at Bungalow on Rainey

On the heels of successful Tulsa-centric parties and booths, the city becomes part of an internationally-known cultural event.

Tulsa Office of Film, Music, Arts and Culture launched Tulsa Boom Factory in 2015 and brought on the Created in Tulsa booth in 2016 at South by Southwest in Austin.

Seeing the success of those programs, SXSW invited FMAC to create a nighttime event for the 2017 festival.

Tulsa Boom Factory takes over Bugalow at Rainey for the third year from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 16.

That night, the first ever Tulsa Music Showcase runs 7 p.m. to 2 a.m., headlined by Hanson.

“Hanson is synonymous with Tulsa music- but they also have a global reach with fans all around the world,” said Abby Kurin, FMAC director.

“As we look ahead to a full year of live music celebrating our band’s 25th anniverary, we’re proud to highlight our Tulsa roots and join the Tulsa Music Showcase at SXSW,” said Taylor Hanson.
