It’s been 18 years since Hanson topped the charts with “MMMBop” — and back in 1997, Isaac, Zac and Taylor visited TODAY to promote their breakout album, “Middle of Nowhere.”

The brothers will be back on the show to perform with Blues Traveler this Thursday, and to mark the occasion, we’ve dug into our archives for footage from their first appearance.

Video: In this throwback clip, the brothers behind “MMMBop” talk to TODAY’s Katie Couric about their musical influences and how they got started.

The fresh-faced trio is all grown up now, of course — even youngest member Zac will turn 30 in October.

Watch the nostalgia-inducing clip above to see Katie Couric proclaim that “a new rock group called Hanson is making teenage hearts beat a little faster these days.”
