What is the very first memory of Hanson that you have?:
I remember seeing the video for MMMBop first, before hearing it on the radio. I just remember thinking it looked awesome with them rollerblading cuz that was kind of my thing at the time.
How many times have you seen Hanson in concert? Favorite concert
memory?:
I have seen them 29 times in 10 different states. My favorite concert memory would have to be at the Delta State Fair in Memphis in September 2011. My friends and I got there early and were sitting in front of the stage when they did soundcheck. They played TBS and we did the dance for them. After they left the stage we were teaching some girls the dance and just having a really good time. Out of nowhere, a guy from the local radio station came out and asked us if we wanted to meet Hanson. We were then taken in to a little room for a meet-n-greet where we were told we could get to get our pictures taken with them individually. Now…out of all the times I had seen them (this was my 24th show) I had never had the opportunity to get a picture of just me and the 3 of them. I almost lost it…but I managed to keep my cool until I exited the building and then I just went crazy. It was an amazing feeling. I call it my “Holy Grail” photo because it was so hard to get.
What is your favorite Hanson song, and why?:
There are so many that mean a lot to me and that I really enjoy. I think my favorite (at least right now) would have to be Penny and Me. It the best song to roll the windows down and just crank it up. It reminds me of road trips (both Hanson and non-Hanson related) and just makes me wanna get away. And even listening to it kind of takes me away from the every day.
Why do you like/love Hanson?:
These guys are just the greatest. Their music is great and fun to dance to. The friends I’ve made because of them are some of the best people in the world. They really give me hope that if I keep going toward my dreams I really can have fun and be successful at it. It might be hard at first but I can make it happen. I also love that their write their music and play their own instruments which I think is rare even in today’s music industry.
How long have you been a Hanson fan?:
Literally since MMMBop was released as a single.
Why should you be FAN OF THE MONTH?:
I’m dedicated to the guys. I’m not a mean fan (you know what I’m talking about). I love to spread the word about Hanson to the haters out there and have even had the privilege of converting a few of the haters to fans.
State a piece of trivia in regards to you & Hanson (optional):
At the MOE in 2009 in my session during the Q & A, someone asked about Ike’s new custom guitar (the one with ‘Nikki’ on the headstock) and how they could get one similar. Ike then starts to talk about Gibson…I worked there at the time and someone like nudged me and I said I worked there. He then looks at me and is like “Oh well then
you know….” and then goes off on a complete rant about how the company only cares about money and blah blah. It was mega awkward…I literally wanted to die. Afterwards when I went up to get my group picture I went to Ike and he was just like ‘sorry but you know it’s true’…afterwards as I went to shake Tay and Zac’s hands they were both kind of like ‘so sorry about that…’ Most awkward moment ever.
