Fan of the Month May – Tori

Age: 23
Location: Lake Mary, FL

What is the very first memory of Hanson that you have? Of the gentlemen themselves, it was in 1997…I was ten and wasn’t allowed to listen to the radio, but my mom did a little background research on the Hanson bro’s and decreed them “appropriate” – I bought their Middle of Nowhere cassette at “Media Play” and never put it down after that. “Madeline” was my favorite song – it was always on repeat.

How many times have you seen Hanson in concert? Favorite concert
memory?

I’ve seen them in two concerts and three mini sets at Epcot.

My favorite concert memory was the first time I got a chance to see
them – October, 2008. They did a walk in Poughkeepsie NY in the rain.
To thank the fans who were out barefoot in the rainy cold, they played
an extra hour of music. But the best part for me was after the show. I
had dislocated my shoulder at work and was stuck in an arm sling.
While waiting for autographs, Taylor spotted me in the sling and
asked security to move me over to their side of the barrier, so
nobody would jostled my injured shoulder. They let me stand over with
them and take pictures and everything! I was so touched at their
genuine concern for my well-being. They didn’t have to do that and to
this day, I am still BLOWN AWAY by that kind of sincere care from one
human being shown to another.

What is your favorite Hanson song, and why?
My favorite Hanson song is “A Song To Sing”. It’s my favorite because the first time I heard it was live, and they did it acoustically. That natural harmony, the natural talent, the beauty of those three voices coming together perfectly…it just brought tears to my eyes. It really touched me, how amazing that sound was. No studio affects, no loud instruments, just three beautiful melodies coming together into a single majestic sound. You just can’t find talent like that these days. It was beautiful!!

Why do you like/love Hanson?
Everything about them is something I like. I love that they are family guys. I love that they do charity work. I love that they give back to the fans SO OFTEN. All the backstage things, the interviews, letting us in on the recording sessions, the huge Christmas special, the live concert streams – they are so aware and considerate of their fans, I have never seen any band give back to the fans like this. They’re so good to us!

How long have you been a Hanson fan?
Since 1997, like most Fansons. It’s such a pleasure to see new fans just getting interested now, at the age I was when I first heard them.

Why should you be FAN OF THE MONTH?
It’s pretty hard to get noticed, not that it’s that important or necessary for me to continue being a fan lol, but my street team is in NY (I’m in FL for college) there’s no radio stations that I can call in and request songs from, there’s no concerts I can help promote here, and even a Florida flashmob took place four hours away and I couldn’t be there. It would just be a really wonderful thing to have an outlet to share with other fans just how much I really respect, look up to, and care for the Hanson trio and all the fellow fans. =)

State a piece of trivia in regards to you & Hanson : My mother bought me a Hanson t-shirt from “Kids R Us” when I was in
sixth grade. I’ve long since outgrown it…but it’s totally still
hanging in my closet! 😉
