HANSON LIVE IN SYDNEY – PHOTOS

Something You Said

American MMMBoppers Hanson are all grown-up now and in their third decade as musicians playing together. They are currently on a tour of Australia, about which drummer Zac (who’s 28, by the way) told us: “When we go touring I don’t think about specific details too much. It’s really just the experience you have of playing shows together… It will be our first time in New Zealand though, that’s pretty cool.”

During our interview, he went on to talk about his band’s continued popularity, even after all these years. “Success is something that can come and go really easily. Especially over time you see that there are so many talented musicians who just never get a chance to be successful. It feels pretty surreal. We started the band when I was just teeny….. I was six years old. So now, this is your life’s work. You care deeply about it, because it’s not just like it’s another band. It’s something that you’ve basically been working on forever, your whole life long. It feels great to have survived so much. Because music has changed so much, particularly over the last 10 years, even 15 years. And so, to still be here, to still like what we do, to still like each other – that’s a hard thing to do. Being in a band is not something unique, it’s like any other relationship: marriage, business, band. You have to give to the relationship, otherwise it falls apart.”

We sent photographer Joel Anderson along to Sydney’s Enmore Theatre to check out brothers Isaac, Taylor and Zac. Here are some of his shots from the sold-out gig. See the rest on Facebook.

Hanson play the following venues on the remainder of their Australian/NZ tour:

12th August – HQ, Adelaide
15th August – Metropolis, Fremantle
17th August – Powerstation, Auckland

Hanson Sent WHAT To Kyle and Jackie O?

By | August 8, 2014

KIIS

Kyle and Jackie O put the Hanson brothers through their paces at a 90’s trivia quiz…

The brother with the lowest score at the end of the quiz had to be slapped in the face with a fish.

As in, a live, wet, dead fish.

Ok. So Zac lost, and he chickened out of being slapped in the face with a fish…

“I think you’re going to have to find us with a fish,” he said.

Kyle’s response, “If you can’t do it that’s fine, but somewhere in one of your Aussie concerts, I will be there with an esky full of dead fish and one way or another, Zac will be copping a fish to the face.”

What happened next?

This turned up at the KIIS studios addressed to Kyle and Jackie O from the boys…

What was in it? Scroll down to see!

“Wanted to save you a trip to the fishmonger – Your move!”

Signed by Zac himself.

Message From The Band

This week has been incredible, as we kick off the first few shows of the ANTHEM TOUR in Australia and New Zealand. Starting off in Brisbane we had a true Aussie experience at the Australia Zoo hosted by the gracious Irwin Family. We were happy to include the trip in our itinerary, that we held a python, held an alligator and kissed a giraffe … it’s hard to explain.

On the music side we’ve been blown away by the fans at all the shows. Brisbane set the tone with a packed house and Gold Coast was raucous, and we had the challenge of performing the FIRST fan voted on set list. Last night in Sydney at one of our favorite Australian venues, The Enmore, the crowd jumped so high on the final tune you could feel the room shake.

We are so proud to be able to share music with so many fans over the more than 15 years since our first visit to Australia, looking out at our concert crowds and meeting fans throughout the promotion of the tour, reminds us why Australia is one of our favorite places in the world to visit. Today we’re headed off to Melbourne and we know it will not disappoint. We can’t wait to see you all along the tour, and especially, the Hanson.net members who are joining us for the special fan club events.

Also, don’t forget to cast your vote for the set list at one of the two remaining set list voting concerts.

We will see you on the road, and online. Have a great week!

Isaac, Taylor and Zac

Hanson 2014 – Australia Zoo – Beerwah, AUSTRALIA

The Australian tour has been amazing, especially our visit to the Australia Zoo near Brisbane, hosted by the gracious Irwin Family. Here’s a pic from our time there.
