From Lady Gaga on “Gossip Girl” to 3LW on “Taina” to the Beach Boys on “Full House,” sitcoms have given us tiny capsules of what was cool. Hanson might not be a hit anymore, but when they appeared on “Sabrina The Teenage Witch,” they were everything. Vote for your fave band performance and we’ll see who comes out on top.

Fan of the Month – May – Ron
Name: Ron
Location: Chicago, IL, USA
What is the very first memory of Hanson that you have?
Like many people, my first memory was hearing MMMBop during the summer of 1997 and being hooked by such a great, catchy pop song.
How many times have you seen Hanson in concert? Favorite concert memory?
I Have seen them only once, though I hope it will be MANY more times in the future. I attended the concert in Toronto at the CNE Bandshell in August 2014. The favorite memory for me was the anticipation of the crowd as Hanson was introduced by a local radio personality, and the pure exhilaration of seeing them come on to the stage and begin with “Fired Up.”
What is your favorite Hanson song and why?
This is perhaps the hardest question, because I love so many of their songs. But, if I have to choose one, I will say “Minute Without You.” That song captures the essence of great pop music and never fails to bring a smile to my face!
Why do you like Hanson?
Great singers, songwriters, musicians and live performers. In addition, these are guys with personality, good senses of humor and true enthusiasm for what they do. They are family-oriented people (parents, siblings, spouses and children), and they have given so much to those who are less fortunate.
How long have you been a Hanson fan?
I have only been a true Hanson fan for two years, although I liked their music from the beginning in ’97. However, I have the zeal of a convert!
Why should you be Fan of the Month?
I have an almost boundless passion for Hanson. I own every CD and video available and I know that I will listen to and enjoy this great band for the rest of my life! I am heading to EPCOT next week and I Hope to see them six times over two nights!
Ron’s submission was made in September of 2014 – we hope that he had a wonderful time at EPCOT!
State a piece of trivia in regards to you and Hanson
Not sure if this counts as trivia, but: when I saw Hanson in Toronto at the CNE, I saw all three of them in the hotel lobby/lounge after the show. Although I wanted to very much, I did not go up to them because a) they were relaxing with each other and I think fans should respect that; and b) I was so excited that I feared I would make a total fool of myself!

Warpaint drummer Stella Mozgawa’s rock inspiration: Hanson
Warpaint is an all-female indie rock band based in Los Angeles continuing to prove that girls rock. The band formed in 2004 but didn’t release its debut album until 2010. Since then, Warpaint has received rave reviews from the Guardian, Rolling Stone and Pitchfork for its dream-like yet intense music.
Warpaint: Undertow
The Frame interviewed Stella Mozgawa, Warpaint’s drummer, about how Hanson helped her start drumming, what she’s thinking on stage and how she’s living her teenage fantasy.
INTERVIEW HIGHLIGHTS:
When did you first know you wanted to play the drums?
I remember this boy in primary school who was the school drummer and he never let me sit at the drum kit. As soon as I got to high school, which was the following year, it was kind of like if someone tells you that you can’t do something, you want to do it a million times more.
What did your parents think about you playing the drums?
My parents weren’t too keen on the idea of me choosing the drums after piano, and guitar and bass. They made me prove to them that I really wanted to do it. So I took lessons, and I would set up a little drum kit on the couch with different pillows, and I’d have these really big sticks and just learned how to play to records. I was just desperate to learn how to play Hanson songs.
That was my first drumming inspiration, ’cause I saw this kid who was my age playing the drums in this band and I thought, ‘Well, I could do that as well.’ When my dad bought me the drum kit, I felt that was the– I got parental approval.
