The venue that Isaac finds is always a great show – probably because of the Neville Brothers is the House of Blues in New Orleans, LA.

In a stream, Zac mentioned that there is a song that he and Isaac sometimes sing different lyrics for during live performances. What is the song?

WEEKLY PIC

After spending a couple months in music creation mode working on Christmas music, we still have the studio on the brain. Here’s a pic of Zac tickling the ivories earlier this year while working on new music for Hanson.net.

MESSAGE FROM THE BAND

We are shutting things down this week for the Christmas holiday, but before we head to our respective corners of the world, we have a few things to share. During Back To The Island 2017 we are going to be hosting the first ever (and hopefully not the last) island games and we also have some new Super Digital Pants Christmas music for you.

Game 1: Fanson Family Feud.  Isaac will be slipping on Steve Harvey’s shoes to host Hanson.net members giant game of Family Feud.  All attendees will be split into teams and will be chosen at random to take the stage and stretch their general knowledge.  It is sure to be a good time whether you’re on stage or simply enjoying the madness.

Game 2: Cards Against Humanity.  Zac will play the roll of judge in search of the ultimate nickname “The Blush Mister”.  All attendees will be split into teams and will be chosen at random to take the stage to play their hands at Cards Against Humanity. It is sure to be a laugh, and if nothing else a meme!

Our good friend JD McPherson has had a last minute musical emergency, but we are thrilled that another Oklahoma native is going to be taking his place on stage at BTTI: John Fullbright.  Adding Andrew Ripp and John Fulbright to a week full of activities, games and concerts leaves us feeling confident there will be an ample supply of great music during our island adventure.  BTTI is going to be a blast, but even if you are not able to make the trip to Jamaica, we will be filming and sharing so check Hanson.net for blogs and videos all week (Jan 4th through 8th).

Christmas is just a little more than a week away. If you are still struggling to find you inner elf, we have something to help.  We have posted some of the best parts from the Christmas stream in the Media section of Hanson.net as well as posting videos from the public stream on YouTube.  We also just put up another brand new video from the making of the new Christmas album and added a new song to the Super Digital Pants album (it’s called Christmas Ball). So dust off your sleigh bells and bake some cookies, ’cause Christmas is here.

Merry Christmas!

Isaac, Taylor and Zac

BTTI 2017 FANSON FAMILY FEUD POLL

Fan Club Exclusive: This year at Back To The Island we are going to be playing Family Feud.  Just like the real TV game show, our answers come from asking 100+ people random questions and the most popular responses become the winning answers. But in this case, you, the Hanson.net community are our not so random group of people.  Read each question and answer whatever comes to mind (the first thing you think of is probably the best answer).  We will sort though all your finished responses and compile the answers for Isaac to use as part of the Fanson Family Feud at Back to the Island 2017.

NEW SONG: CHRISTMAS BALL

Fan Club Exclusive: You’re gonna have a ball this Christmas by adding Christmas Ball to your collection.  The new HANSON Christmas song, Christmas Ball, is now in Super Digital Pants available exclusively in the Hanson.net store.

The newest addition to the collection is the Christmas 2016 song, Christmas Ball, which was released on December 15th 2016.  Get ready to have a ball this Christmas by adding Christmas Ball to your collection.

Taylor Hanson helps OKPOP identify site for museum, with million-dollar lot being donated

With the OKPOP Museum looking at several “good” locations in the Brady Arts District earlier this year but struggling to find the “ideal” spot, one of Tulsa’s most famous musicians quietly met with organizers to suggest a new possibility — a site so seemingly perfect that it left people wondering why they hadn’t thought of it before.

The project bounced around to several potential locations after the idea was broached in 2007 to build an Oklahoma Museum of Popular Culture. Officials first considered a parking lot west of the Brady Theater, then focused on property owned by the Bank of Oklahoma near the Boston Avenue pedestrian bridge, where construction would have included a large parking garage for bank employees. By last summer, OKPOP seemed destined for a site near ONEOK Field, where the Tulsa Development Authority was seeking proposals for redevelopment.

“All of those sites were good,” said Bob Blackburn, the executive director of the Oklahoma Historical Society. “But all of them had drawbacks.”

Taylor Hanson had another idea. Across the street from the landmark Cain’s Ballroom, at 423 N. Main St., sat a vacant lot with high visibility from Interstate 244 — all the better for helping tourists find the museum. And its proximity to Cain’s — “the home of Bob Wills” and one of the most famous music venues in the state — already made the location what Blackburn described Thursday as “sacred ground for artists and the creative community” in Oklahoma.

“It’s the perfect location,” he said. “We had other possibilities, but this was the right one.”

If possible, “perfect” got even better when David Sharp, one of the largest property owners in downtown Tulsa, agreed to donate the land — valued at roughly $1 million. Taking up a quarter of a city block, the land currently provides paid parking for Cain’s.

Expected to break ground in early 2018 and open by the end of 2019, the 40,000-square-foot museum hopes to become one of the most popular tourist attractions in Oklahoma by featuring exhibits on some of the biggest stars in the country, including Garth Brooks, Reba McEntire, Vince Gill, Carrie Underwood and Kristin Chenoweth. And OKPOP will include underground parking, with fees helping to fund the museum’s daily operations, officials said. Design and construction will be funded by $25 million in state bonds, while daily operations will be offset by parking fees in an underground garage that will serve the museum and other nearby attractions in the Brady Arts District, officials said.

Officials announced Thursday that the museum will hold the personal collection of Leon Russell, who helped create and popularize the mix of rockabilly and country music known as the Tulsa Sound. Russell died in November, but with a grant from the George Kaiser Family Foundation, OKPOP was already negotiating to buy his collection, including his most recent piano as well as more than 2,500 master recordings.

“We’re building a place where creativity can come home” to Oklahoma, said Taylor Hanson, a Tulsa-bred musician who — along with brothers Isaac and Zac — has sold more than 16 million records worldwide.

Mayor G.T. Bynum hopes the museum will inspire a new generation of Oklahoma musicians and artists.

“They will do great things,” Bynum said, “because they came to this museum and realized what is possible.”

About OKPOP

What: The museum is a place to “collect, preserve and share” Oklahoma’s cultural assets. Emphasis will be placed on how those assets have influenced pop culture as a whole. Collections include artifacts, photographs, manuscripts, archival material, film, video and interviews.

Construction will also include building a 100-space parking garage to go beneath the museum and serve nearby businesses.

Where: 422 N. Main St., directly across the street from Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa’s Brady Arts District

Timeline: Plans for the museum were first announced in 2007. The Oklahoma Legislature approved the museum’s $25 million bond issue in May 2015. Construction will begin in early 2018. Museum will likely open by the end of 2019.

Hanson announce Christmas album coming in 2017

By | December 15, 2016

EW

It’s not even Dec. 25, but we already know what we want for Christmas next year: Hanson’s new Christmas album.

Zac Hanson took to the band’s Twitter Thursday to reveal the title of the previously announced album: Ooh Christmas. He told fans that the band “just finished” recording and that “Winter Wonderland” will be among the tracks.

The boy band released a veritable bounty of video goodies in tandem with the announcement, including footage of the recording session. Don’t miss the genesis for the album title: Taylor Hanson sings a groovy version of “Blue Christmas” and really puts the “Ooh” in “Blue.”

The Hanson 2017 Christmas Album Is Already The Gift That Keeps On Giving

By | December 15, 2016

Bustle

Hansonstage Note: This article mentions that the album is going to be titled “Ooh Christmas”, as far as we can tell, this is just the name of one of the videos that the band posted and the working title for the album is still “Wintry Mix”

Consider your holiday dreams fulfilled. Something big has hit the airwaves for every boy band fan out there. (That’s every living person, right?) I’m talking about Hanson’s new Christmas Album. On Thursday, the band tweeted the album’s title: Ooh Christmas. (Mmm Christmas was taken, I guess?) They also revealed one of the album’s tracks — “Winter Wonderland” — and even shared a live recording of it. Following that, they gifted us with a behind the scenes video featuring two thirds of the three Hanson brothers singing and playing piano for “Blue Christmas.” Naturally, it’s in falsetto. Taylor Hanson belts out Blue-oo-oo-ooh Christmas. Oh. Now I get the title.

What makes the release of this album so good, besides all the obvious reasons, is that it’s been 20 years since Hanson put out their first Christmas album: 1997’s Snowed In. “MMMBop” was recorded in 1996, and Hanson’s album Middle of Nowhere went platinum four times, so it’s fair to say Snowed In came out during the peak of their career. As one of the most iconic musical trios from that time, the Christmas album became a success. (The Hanson bros were inescapable in ’97.)

Snowed In was also probably one of the most played Christmas albums of your youth. If that’s the case, then, here, the following never-before-seen footage from that album’s recording will mean something to you:

20 years ago we made Snowed In. Just finished a new Christmas album for 2017 -Z https://youtu.be/ueRMiD-busY  via @YouTube

The hearts that beat inside children of the ’90s are fluttering everywhere. But check out just how far they’ve come — and be prepared to feel some nostalgia when you see how they’ve grown up.

Lastly, give your ears a treat with the live version of “Winter Wonderland.” (The studio version of which, will be on the album.)

The highly anticipated album doesn’t have an official release date, so stay tuned. In the meantime, pop in Snowed In for old time’s sake, yeah?

The concert that Taylor said was the beginning of another era was the Carnegie Hall concert in 2003.

What city/venue does Isaac find is always a great show every time they play there and credits its to The Neville Brotheres?

Hanson Fans Give Back: Back to the Island 2017

By | December 10, 2016

hansonfansgiveback

If you frequent the Hanson.net forums, you may be familiar with Laura or her username Lautje85.  In the past, she has hosted 4 walks in the Netherlands for the Take The Walk Campaign and is active in other parts of the community as well.  In January, she will be taking the trip to Jamaica for Hanson’s Back to the Island event.  She had been looking for ways to help out and give back while in Jamaica and has made contact with an orphanage in Montego Bay.  If you are attending BTTI and have some room to spare in your suitcase, please consider bringing some of the following supplies for Laura to collect and bring.  Laura is hoping to visit on Wednesday during BTTI but will be bringing more supplies on Monday when she flies back and there is also a concierge at the hotel that volunteers at a school so any other supplies that don’t make it to the orphanage will still be getting good use by the children of Jamaica.

For the babies:
Stuffed animals & soft toys

For the pre-schoolers:
Coloring & art books
Markers & crayons (any size)
pens & pencils
erasers
arts & crafts materials (great need)
large print story books

For the teens:
art books & journals
pens & pencils
stationery (rulers, erasers, etc.)
school bags
black, blue or brown socks

The donations will be split between two homes. One houses 38 children aged birth to 9 years.  The other home houses 30 children.

If you’re going to BTTI but would rather donate than bring supplies or are not going to BTTI at all but would still like to help Laura and the orphanage out, donations can be made via her gofundme page.  Donations made via gofundme will be used for additional supplies as well as to help fund her $150 roundtrip transport to deliver the supplies. Any money left over will be directly donated.
