Zac Hanson Turns 30! Here Are 10 Other Things Turning 30 to Make You Feel Old

It seems like just yesterday that a young Zac Hanson was shaking his long locks to “MMMBop” with his brothers. But believe it or not, the former Hanson brother boy bander turned 30 on Thursday, Oct. 22. That combined with the 30th anniversary of Back to the Future and the subsequent Back to the Future Day have made Us feel particularly aged.

But those aren’t the only two things turning 30 this year. In fact, we’ve compiled a list of people and pop culture events celebrating their 30th birthdays in 2015 to make you feel old.

1. The Breakfast Club

It seems like just yesterday that we were trying to apply lipstick with our cleavage (oh wait, maybe that was yesterday…) and worshipping the Brat Pack. This John Hughes classic premiered on Feb. 15, 1985, and high school stereotypes have never been the same.

2. “Don’t You (Forget About Me)” by Simple Minds

The song was made famous in The Breakfast Club, and we’ll never forget Judd Nelson raising his triumphant fist in the air at the end of the movie as it played into the credits.

3. Michelle Trachtenberg

That’s right — the actress who gained fame playing Harriet the Spy and Dawn Summers, the baby sister of Buffy Summers on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, turned 30 on Oct. 11. Wonder if she wrote about it in her notebook…

4. The Goonies

Goonies never say die, but that doesn’t mean they’re not getting old! The cult classic film celebrated its 30th anniversary on June 7. Who knew Mikey would go on to play for Notre Dame?

5. Calvin and Hobbes 

The beloved comic strip from artist Bill Watterson debuted its first strip on Nov. 18, 1985 and it ran until Dec. 31, 1995.

6. Raven-Symone

She’s so 30! The former Disney Channel star will celebrate the big 3-0 on Dec. 10. She’s had quite the evolution from teenage psychic and Cheetah Girl to View co-host and controversial public figure. Wonder if she gazed into this future…

7. Growing Pains

The Seavers are 30! The hit ABC sitcom starring Alan Thicke and Kirk Cameron premiered on Sept. 24, 1985.

8. Ashley Tisdale 

The Disney Channel alum, who played the ultimate drama queen Sharpay Evans from High School Musical, turned 30 on July 2. She’s still besties with her costar Vanessa Hudgens and remains “Absolutely Fabulous”! So not much has changed.

9. The Care Bears

The adorable rainbow colored bears got their TV start in 1985 on ABC. That same year, Friend Bear, Funshine Bear, Birthday Bear, Grumpy Bear, Bedtime Bear, and Wish Bear got their own movie.

10. Letterman’s “Top 10 List” 

David Letterman may have retired this year, but his legacy still lives on in Late Night. And in 1985, he released his very first “Top 10 List,” which would go on to be a staple on the Late Show. The subject: “Top Ten Words That Almost Rhyme With Peas.”
