Twisted Metal May Be TV’s Stupidest Video Game Adaptation Yet

Watch Twisted Metal (TV Series) Streaming Online | Peacock

Do you enjoy ironic pop-music syncs? Would you cheer at the spectacle of a cop car exploding to the guileless, pubescent harmony of Hanson’s “MMMBop”? Does the thought of an aerial apocalypse scored by Len’s cartoonishly upbeat “Steal My Sunshine” absolutely crack you up? Do you thrill at the prospect of watching a bad guy get shot between the legs, on the roof of a speeding car, as Oasis’ coruscating “Champagne Supernova” blares in the background? If so, you’re going to love Peacock’s new action comedy, Twisted Metal, premiering July 27.

But if the above juxtapositions don’t strike you as the height of wit, well then, I regret to inform you that they are all real, representative examples of the show’s sense of humor. In a serendipitous nod to Barbie mania, there’s also a torture montage set to Aqua’s “Barbie Girl.” It probably shouldn’t come as a surprise that this bloody, quippy, self-satisfied adaptation of the ’90s Playstation vehicular combat games comes from the minds of Deadpool writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick (with Cobra Kai’s Michael Jonathan Smith serving as showrunner).

New Feature – % Heard

By | July 19, 2023

It’s my birthday so I am giving you all a gift of a new feature on the site!  This is a combination of a couple of requests that landed in the suggestion box. This is available for registered users only and you must be logged in to see.  Please also keep in mind that this page uses stats from all of the concerts ever and could take a bit to fully load.

Can be found at Members > Your Songs [Most to Least]

On this new page you will see your songs heard live in order from most to least. In addition it will show you how many times it has been played overall and what % of times played you were present for.  Do you have any 100%?  Any songs you have not heard live are not included.  At this time, virtual shows and song counts are included but we are hoping to change that at a later date.

As always with new features there is the possibility that there will be glitches. If anything doesn’t seem right with your account please contact blog@hansonstage.com. Include your username, what page isn’t working and what device / web browser you are using.  Screen shots are a plus! We will do what we can to troubleshoot and correct it for you.

Bubblegum pop had been a largely faceless genre that had faded in the mid-1970s, but Hanson changed all that 25 years ago with “MMMBop.” The brothers never stopped making music. In recent years, they appeared on “Masked Singer” in 2021, put out an EP in 2022, and this year they worked on a new version of “MMMBop” called “MMMBop 2.0” with the British band Busted, who have been around as long as Hanson. Hanson plays July 21 at 8 p.m. at Foxwoods Great Cedar Showroom. The show is sold out but verified resale tickets are available on the Foxwoods ticket site. foxwoods.com.
