Hanson Speaks Out on Major Changes to Fan Club 25 Years After Its Launch

Dedicated Fans

Since breaking into the pop music scene with their 1997 hit “MMMBop”, Hanson has built and kept a devoted fanbase from all over the world.

Fan Club for the Ages

In 2000, that effervescent fandom prompted Isaac, Taylor and Zac to create their own internet service provider, which quickly became an entire fan club community.

It includes: the website Hanson.net, exclusive EPs, and even an annual invite to Hanson Day – a weekend of Hanson-themed events hosted by the brothers themselves in their hometown of Tulsa, Okla.

A ‘Need’ for ‘Evolution’

In March, the band announced “significant changes” to the fan club are coming – including doing away with annual membership by March 2026.

Fan worried what these changes could mean for the future of Hanson, who started their own indie label in 2003. Before a special show in Conn. on Aug. 9, the group exclusively opened up to PEOPLE about the changes and their thought process. They also revealed they don’t have a set plan for what’s next just yet.

Taylor: the simple answer, which isn’t really an answer in details is, we are going through just a rethinking of what it means to have that platform for fans and it is true that you do have a different relationship when you have three decades and it’s incredible to have people that want to show up time after time and want to get a meet and greet and they want to hear extra music  and they want the exclusive stuff and so I just want us to hopefully honor that as much as we possibly can always. The first place we do that is always back to just making music and making sure when people, hey, I want to come to a show, that we have a chance. Every time before a show, the first people on the list are people that have been a part of our community, and just the chance to say, hey you’re the top of our list.

Creative Decisions

Hanson stressed that keeping up with “the needs of the now” is an important part of their fan club overhaul process.

Zac: I think the thing about life, they say you’re either growing and changing or you’re dying. And I think for us you need to continuously be in a place where you can say what is it I feel like I need to be doing to be growing. So there’s not necessarily clarification but what people don’t need to worry about, I mean, just like, these shows we’re able to come out not because we have a new album or new single to promote, just because we have a band and a body of work and a history with fans. I think that all stays the same. There’s all the good things you say, but you have to say, ‘Hey, where am I supposed to be, what am I supposed to be doing? What’s the best thing for me as a creative person then?’ And so there are changes.

Isaac: We’re in a unique situation. A lot of bands don’t have fan clubs the way we do. A lot of bands have not had a fan club at the level that we’ve had for 25 years you know? So we are continually trying to think of ways to evolve, what things need to change, the social media evolution has been really dramatic in the last five years in particular so we’ve been kind of looking at the lay of the land and asking ourselves ‘Are we really serving the needs of the now?’ Not just specifically the fan club community because there are a lot of ways that we can achieve those relationships and continue that communication. So we’ll see.

Lost Without Each Other

No matter what Hanson decides, we have a feeling they will take their own advice in “MMMBop” and continue to “hold on to” fans “who really care”

AEW Releases Hilarious Young Bucks Shirt After Music Confusion

By | August 30, 2025

TjR Wrestling

The Young Bucks lost a huge tag team match at All In Texas to Will Ospreay and Swerve Strickland, which has had dire consequences for them. The loss meant that Matt and Nick Jackson were stripped of their EVP status, and they could no longer throw their power around in the company they helped create.

Since then, the Bucks have faced humiliation after humiliation as they’ve had their entrance stripped back completely, losing their pyro, music, and graphics. Instead, they’ve had enhancement talent entrances with the pair often already in the ring before their opponents, while the ring announcers have poked fun at them with the Jacksons introduced under their TNA names of Max and Jeremy, as well as their Simpsons’ counterparts, Rod and Tod.

The Young Bucks Get MMMBop Inspired T-Shirt

At Forbidden Door, The Young Bucks demanded their old music back as they got ready to do battle in a lights out steel cage match. Things started well as their familiar newest music began to play, but it quickly cut off to be replaced by the first music they ever used in the wrestling business, MMMBop by Hanson.

Now, The Young Bucks have a new, and fitting t-shirt after the moment that had London singing along to the 90s classic. MMMBucks is now available to buy at AEWShop.

It was a throwback theme for the Young Bucks (Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) at AEW x NPJPW Forbidden Door.

Upset with the disrespect over the last month, the Bucks demanded they have their old theme for Forbidden Door.

The former AEW Tag Team Champions received just that as production played “MMMBop” by Hanson as the Bucks entered the arena.

“MMMBop” was the first theme used by the Bucks when they were Slick Nick and Mr. Instant Replay.

The former EVPs have been given the jobber treatment since AEW All In when they lost their EVP status against Will Ospreay & Swerve Strickland. They’ve been given terrible music, MS Paint graphics, poor introductions, and identified by the wrong names.

Fans can find Fightful’s coverage of Forbidden Door here. Check out the post-show podcast for a full review here.

The Jonas Brothers are pulling out all the stops for their 20th anniversary tour.

During their concert in Virginia Beach, Va. on Friday, Aug. 15, Nick JonasJoe Jonas and Kevin Jonas brought out Hanson, surprising fans with a performance of their 1997 hit “MMMBop.”

Hanson, made up of brothers Isaac, Taylor and Zac, took the stage at the Veterans United Home Loans Amphitheater with an extra layer of nostalgia.

The JoBros posted about their collaboration on Instagram with their 2007 song “That’s Just the Way We Roll,” which namedrops the nostalgic boy band.

“You got moves, I’ve got shoes, let’s go dancing/Pop and lock, battle dance against Hanson/If we lose all the girls they’ll be laughing,” the song plays, with each brother lip-synching to certain lyrics and Hanson making a cameo as well.

Taylor Hanson posted about their surprise appearance on Instagram with behind-the-scenes footage. “A Beautiful night with @jonasbrothers @kevinjonas @nickjonas @joejonas (Happy Birthday Joe). Not a bad way to spend 24hrs!” Joe turned 36 on Friday.

At the show kicking off their JONAS20: Greetings From Your Hometown Tour, Demi Lovato joined the JoBros on stage to perform “This Is Me” from Camp Rock and “Wouldn’t Change a Thing” from Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam.

Jesse McCartney also took the stage at MetLife Stadium to sing “Beautiful Soul,” bringing fans back to when the singer and brothers toured together at the start of their respective careers.

Then at their show in Camden, N.J. on Aug. 14, the group brought out The Click Five in a surprise appearance to sing their 2005 song “Just the Girl.”

Speaking to PEOPLE in June, Joe reflected on the band’s 20 years together and how he feels privileged to be able to do what he loves for a living.

“Twenty years in now, still being able to do what we love for a living and have so many supportive fans and people that show up for these shows and listen to our new music and stuff, it’s why it keeps us doing what we do,” he said.

“I wake up every morning, [and] I’m ready. I get to do what I love for a living, so I’m happy to keep it going.”

Nick, 32, spoke to PEOPLE in July about how the band’s music has aged through the years and how it’s affected different generations.

“It’s aged very well. It’s one of those things where we’ve looked out and seen the fan base really evolve and change and there’s sort of a generational aspect to it now when you think about it,” he said at the time.

“The people that were our age back when we were teens touring and making music are our age now and they’ve grown up and they’re bringing their kids to the shows, but their parents that brought them when they were in their youth still want to come.”

Throughout their tour, Marshmello, the All-American Rejects and Boys Like Girls are supporting the band, who released Greetings From Your Hometown on Aug. 8.

Upcoming tour stops include Toronto, Boston, Detroit, Dallas, Seattle, Kansas City, Nashville and other cities through August, September and October.

They wrap up their trek in Uncasville, Conn. on Nov. 14.
