After announcing its Australian tour dates last Monday, Hanson (the boy band of blond brothers you remember from your childhood) sold out its June 21 gig at the Enmore Theatre almost immediately.

Now the group has released a second Sydney date.

The Middle of Everything world tour celebrates the pop trio’s 25th anniversary and marks 20 years since the band’s debut album, Middle of Nowhere.

Over its 25 years together the group has released six studio albums and sold more than 16 million albums. Later this year it will release Middle of Everywhere – The Greatest Hits, which will include the singles Mmmbop, Where’s The Love,Weird, This Time Around and the new single I Was Born.

Tickets go on sale on Friday March 31 at 9am.

Australia’s response to the announcement of its leg of HANSON’s 25th Anniversary World Tour last Monday was overwhelming; fans were elated at the chance to celebrate this incredible milestone with the band that Faster Louder called “your childhood heroes”. Pedestrian.tv comforted fans who thought HANSON might have forgotten Australia in their worldwide tour announcement, telling readers to “set aside your fears, the boys will be back in town in June”.

The enthusiastic response to the tour announcement, from media and fans alike, was this week matched with the same excitement as tickets went on sale for the national Australian tour on Monday morning.

HANSON’s first Melbourne show on Sunday 18th June sold out in a matter of minutes, with a second show at The Forum on Monday 19th June, added almost immediately and sold out within hours.

Sydney’s Enmore Theatre and The Tivoli in Brisbane were not far behind, selling out the same day that they went on sale. To meet the unprecedented demand, a second Sydney show at the Enmore Theatre has been added on Thursday 22nd June and will go on sale at 9am on Friday 31st March.

There are limited tickets still available for HANSON’s shows in Perth, Adelaide, Gold Coast and Auckland, so fans are encouraged to act fast if they haven’t already secured their tickets.

In celebration of the band’s 25th Anniversary, multi-Grammy nominated pop-rock trio HANSON will be returning to Australia and New Zealand for their Middle Of Everywhere World Tour which includes Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Auckland and more.

The world tour also includes concerts in Europe and North America, with a South American leg still to be announced. The band will kick off the extensive world tour on May 21st  in Tulsa, Oklahoma with a headlining set at their own rapidly growing The Hop Jam Beer and Music Festival.

“Making music together for 25 years is a milestone that we had to acknowledge, and what better way to do it than an anniversary tour,” said keyboardist Taylor Hanson. Added guitarist Isaac Hanson, “This year is not only about the two decades of music, it’s about celebrating the incredible community of fans who have been with us, singing along year after year”.

We have been blown away by the response to the Middle Of Everywhere World Tour. It feels like every day we hear about more shows selling out!   It feels so good to know that all of the summer and fall we will be traveling playing shows, and there is even more coming. US, Canada and European shows are on sale now, Australia and New Zealand just went up for Pre-Sale and we are working on the South American Leg of the tour.

The world tour has been at the forefront of everything we are doing, but every adventure needs a great theme song. In the next few weeks we will be sharing more about our new song, I Was Born, and how the message of the song represents so much of our outlook on making music for 25 years and where and when you can get your hands on it.

From MMMBop to I Was Born, we have always been shooting for the stars, who knew that sometimes you hit what you are aiming for.

MIDDLE OF EVERYWHERE TOUR

Multi-Grammy nominated pop-rock trio HANSON are starting their 25th year together with a bang. Their Middle Of Everywhere 25th Anniversary World Tour went on sale last week with many shows selling out in minutes throughout Europe and the US, including London, Antwerp, New York, Toronto, Detroit, Chicago and Boston, followed by quick sell outs in a number of other markets, including Nashville, Portland, Minneapolis, Seattle, Pittsburgh and more. Due to demand, today the band is adding a second night at London’s O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire as well as an additional European date in Zurich, Switzerland.

The new dates come on the heels of Monday’s announcement of the Australia and New Zealand leg of the tour, including dates in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Gold Coast, Perth and Auckland. Presale for the London date will begin Tuesday March 21st, and for Australia, New Zealand and Switzerland on Wednesday March 22nd.

The tour will kick off on May 21st in Tulsa, OK with a headlining set at HANSON’s own rapidly growing The Hop Jam Beer and Music Festival. The South American leg is still to be announced.

The AU Review

Hanson performed at the Tulsa Showcase at SXSW last week after revealing the details of their 25th Anniversary Middle Of Everywhere World Tour, which includes just-announced a stop over in Australia in June.

After a small delay due to sound issues the three original brothers Isaac, Taylor and Zac hit the stage at a packed out Bungalow. The mostly older audience travelled down memory lane with a 60 minute set which contained a 12 song setlist.

A little older, a little wiser, Hanson performed their classics such as a slightly slowed down version of “Mmmbop”, “Where’s The Love” and “If Only”. Not much banter was given during a quick set but Hanson did say they were looking forward to seeing their fans all over the world at their 25th Anniversary tour (Australia and NZ included).

Hanson reminds us of everything that was good about our youth – carefree and all-sugary pop. This was only amplified by the excitement of the older audience at this Tulsa showcase. Fun fact: Garth Brooks and St Vincent also come from Tulsa, though neither would appear on this night (Brooks later did a free show, however, to close out the Austin based festival in front of tens of thousands of people).

So, what has Australia got to look forward to this June? 25 years later, the brothers proved they still put on a great show and provide their audiences with guilt-free pleasure. The very best of Hanson indeed.
