Zac Hanson, Wife Expecting Baby No. 2

By | July 2, 2010

People

There’s another Hanson baby on the way!

Zac Hanson and his wife Kate are expecting their second child, and the rocker couldn’t be more thrilled, he tells PEOPLE.

“I am so excited about the new addition to our growing family and for the stories and inspiration this person will bring to the world,” says the drummer, 24 — one-third of the trio Hanson — who just released their latest album, Shout It Out.

“Life is so short,” he adds, “And there is nothing better than getting to share life with our children.”

The new arrival will join older brother John Ira Shepherd, 2, plus a clan of cousins: Zac’s brother Taylor has four kids with his wife Natalie — Ezra, 7½, Penelope, 5, River, 3½, and Viggo, 18 months — and brother Isaac and his wife Nikki have two sons — Everett, 3, and Monroe, 2.

In addition to a built-in playgroup, the new baby is also likely to have an early shot at stardom — two of the younger Hansons, Ezra and Penelope, appeared in the band’s new hit video for their single “Thinking ‘Bout Something.”

The ‘MMMBop’ singer – who already has a two-year-old son John Ira Shepherd Hanson with his spouse Kathryn ‘Kate’ Tucker – made the surprise announcement on US radio show Kidd Kraddick in the Morning yesterday (01.06.10).

He said: “I have a new baby. It’s coming. Nobody even knows.”

When welcoming his firstborn in May 2008, Zac, 24, gushed: “There is not an audience or concert that could ever stand up to the feeling of meeting your baby for the first time.”

Zac and Kate first met in August 2000 and married in 2006.

The musician’s latest arrival will add to the ever-expanding Hanson family.

Taylor Hanson and wife Natalie Anne Bryant have four children -Jordan Ezra, Penelope Anne, River Samuel and Viggo Moriah – while older brother Isaac has two children, Clarke and James, with wife Nicole.

Hanson – which was made up of the trio of brothers – first shot to fame in 1997 with their worldwide smash hit single ‘MMMBop’.

Thanks for Shouting!

We have had an incredible amount of support from the Hanson Street Team, H.net members and fans of all kinds in getting the word out about the release of Shout it Out. Though we still have a long road ahead of us with this album, and will need your help all along the way, we want to take this moment to say thank you!

In partnership with OurStage.com, Hanson is hosting an opening band contest in every city on the Shout it Out summer tour. All of the submissions are in, and now it’s time for you to vote! Go VOTE!

H.net Changes!

We’ve been working hard on developing some great new features for Hanson.net. We’re very excited and hope to tell you all about them very shortly. As we add these new features, we will no longer be able to offer the Hanson.net email accounts, so we wanted to give you all as much warning as possible. Email accounts will no longer be available starting September 1, 2010. We know this may be upsetting to a few of our members, but this will allow us to move our attention to updating and creating new features that will continue to improve the Hanson.net community.

From The Band!

We have been in the studio every day this week recording interviews for the 5 of 5 DVD package. Looking at the last 15 years in one sitting causes things to look very different than they do in isolation. Seeing what we have been through, album after album, year after year, and still feeling like we have been able to do what we wanted on our terms is a great feeling. I am looking forward to this all finishing up so we can share it! For now, you can take my word for it!!
Next week, we hope to have more to share with you about the summer tour and the many things likely to go along with it, such as set-list voting, streaming and flash mobs! More to come next week!

Furry Walls on iTunes – Giveaway

By | June 29, 2010

Hanson’s version of “Furry Walls” is now available on iTunes! We will be holding a contest where you could be “gifted” the song on iTunes. (Unfortunately if you live in a country where the song is not available, you can’t win. This is because iTunes won’t let you redeem the gift)

The challenge:
Get the @HansonTickets twitter to 500 followers!

Tweet telling your friends to follow @HansonTickets. Please only tweet a maximum of 3 times a day, and keep them a couple of hours apart. Tweeting more than this per day will disqualify you from the contest

If we get to 500 followers by next Wednesday at Noon (Eastern Time) 5 people who told their friends to follow us will be chosen to “win” a copy of Furry Walls.

For every 100 followers we get over 500, there will be another winner. For example, if we get to 600 followers there will be 6 winners, 700 there will be 7 winners, etc.

For additional entries:
Submit a photo to the Musical Ride. You may only submit a total of 3 for extra entries and all entries must be submitted to hansontickets@gmail.com with your twitter name so we can keep track of the entries. Anything submitted through the tumblr will not count towards this contest (but will be posted on the site, of course!)

Hanson: Timeless Pop, Beyond 'MMMBop'

By | June 24, 2010

NPR

Most bands would just be taking off as their members hit their mid-20s, but at 29, 27 and 24, Isaac, Taylor and Zachary Hanson are already old pros. The band may still be trying to shake off the stigma surrounding 1997’s chart-topping “MMMBop,” but Hanson (now with shorter hair) has become comfortable in its niche somewhere between Top 40 pop and indie folk-rock.

The Hanson brothers have always done their own songwriting and played their own instruments, and their many and marvelous talents have helped set them apart from other ’90s all-male bands. Thirteen years after Middle of Nowhere, Hanson still clings to its slick, tightly wound melodies, but the band continues to build impressively on the inspiration it draws from Motown, ’70s rock and everything in between.

Shout It Out features what ought to be considered a career highlight for Hanson: “Thinking ‘Bout Somethin’,” a perfectly soul-infused pop song completed with cowbell, horns and belted-out harmonies. It stands to reason that the video, inspired by the 1980 film The Blues Brothers, would be a hit, too — it sums up Hanson’s modern-day persona as a band that’s polished, charming and confident enough to take delight in everything that came before it.

Hanson.net Changes

We’ve been working hard on developing some really great new features for Hanson.net. We’re really excited and hope to be telling you all about them very shortly. As we add these new features, we will no longer be able to offer the Hanson.net email accounts so we wanted to give you all as much warning as possible. Email accounts will no longer be available starting September 1, 2010. We know this may be upsetting to a few of our members, but this really does allow us to move our attention to updating and creating new features that will continue to improve the Hanson.net community.

From The Band!

We are back in the studio working on the 5 of 5 DVD’s, and it is really starting to sound great! We will not be finished until right before the Shout it Out summer tour begins, so there is a long way to go, but this is really going to be amazing. It has been awesome having Mark Hudson in the studio with us again after roughly 11 years since we last worked together. It feels really good to have people around that you can trust to hold things to the same standards we have. We are also getting everything ready for the Shout it Out Tour – set list voting, live streaming, opening band contests, flash mobs! Wow, that is a lot of stuff! It’s going to be a great summer of music.
