When did Helene Fischer’s mega-hit “Atemlos” come out – in 2014 or earlier? And did the Hanson brothers’ “MMMBop” come out before or after “Mambo No. 5”? The card game “Hitster” has turned this collective memory gap into a popular party game – and RTL has now turned it into a television show.
“Hitster – Die Gameshow der größten Hits” premieres on April 12 at 7:05 PM, and the show will be available on RTL+ one week earlier. For six episodes, Elton (54) hosts a format that is fundamentally based on a simple but easily underestimated question: When did which song come out – and what do you associate with it?
“You don’t actually have to know anything here”, Elton himself explains. “Not what the songs are called. Not who sang them. And nobody has to shine with nerdy knowledge – who hit the triangle in the third bar of the second verse. None of that matters. You just have to remember your own life.”
