Kat Dennings says that appearing in Hanson’s 2013 music video for their song “Get the Girl Back” remains one of her biggest career accomplishments.

Dennings appeared alongside Nikki Reed as a main love interest in the video. Both actresses have been vocal about their fandom of the band in various interviews. Speaking to Danielle Fishel in the Wednesday, Jan. 28 episode of the new Teen Beat podcast, 39-year-old Dennings said, “To this day, it is probably my best, my biggest accomplishment in my career. And I’m not joking. This is called manifestation, folks.”

The Shifting Gears actress shared that, as a teen, she even had magazine cut-outs of Hanson on her walls, and a cutout of the band from a music store in her room.

“I was Pinteresting before Pinterest. I was vision boarding my life, my ceiling. Isaac’s on my ceiling,” she joked.

Kat Dennings attends iHeartRadio 102.7 KIIS FM's Jingle Ball 2025 at Intuit Dome on December 05, 2025 in Los Angeles, California.

Dennings said her appearance in the video came as a result of social media.

“Don’t know how this happened, but once Twitter — RIP — came along, you could follow these people that you never could have access to,” she said. “I mean, this is good and bad as we know … You could suddenly have access to the thoughts of these people. So, of course, I followed Hanson.”

She continued: “And I think I had been quite vocal ever since I was doing interviews about how much I loved Hanson. So I had been vocal about how much I loved them many times. And I think Two Broke Girls was popular at that time, so they saw something about it. And I straight up got a DM. Yes. [From] Taylor Hanson, and he was like, ‘Hey, you ever …?’ I was like, ‘Yeah. Mmhmm … I will do anything you want. I will clear the calendar.”

She continued: “So I got to be in a Hanson music video with my friend Nikki Reed, and it was one of the best days of my life. It was so surreal, and I know that you know this, but when you’re a teen, I’m just going say girl, because I don’t know what it’s like to not be that — your obsessions are so important. My love for Hanson at that time was so important to me. They were a part of my daily existence in a really pure, precious, sweet way.”

Dennings added that, while she isn’t quite as “obsessed” with the band now, she was able to live out her girlhood dreams on the set of the video.

“I don’t feel the obsession that I did as a young kid. But something opened up in that day, where I was fully able to close the circle and recognize how magical and crazy it was that this person got to be in a music video with them,” she said.
