Identifying the health needs of our community is the first step necessary to achieve better health outcomes. The SEMPHN Health Needs Assessment identifies the factors that contribute to changes in health outcomes and recommends, on this basis, potential activities to address many of these issues. The Basic Assessment of Demand for Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) provides information on the demographic profile of the SEMPHN watershed with respect to the local needs of clients with access to treatment services. This is the basic analysis of mental health needs across the SEMPHN watershed. It describes key areas of demand and evaluation includes social determinants of health. Consultations were conducted with mental health service providers, consumers, nurses and consumer advocates.
