In January we found out that the Hanson chocolates would contain “Golden Tickets” that would grant the winner 2 tickets to the 5 of 5 show of their choice. We first got word of the Valentine’s Day merchandise which included the previously mentioned chocolate, Hanson logo charm, Carry You There scarves and an I Heart Hanson mug. In a “This week at HNet” Hanson wrote “I get the feeling this will be one of our best years yet.” And popeater posted an article mentioning that Hanson promised special guests at Five of Five.

In February, fans found out about the hotel deal for five of five in New York City. The “Share” button was added on Hanson.net, word got out that American Idol contestant Siobhan Magnus was a Hanson fan. Hanskeys finally started arriving at the homes of those who pre-ordered them at the October 2009 Members Only Events. Fans were invited to the March music video shoot and we found out that Hanson would be joining the Bamboozle Road Show in May.

March brought the shooting of the “Thinking Bout Somethin” video in downtown Tulsa. Hundreds of fans from around the country attended. Hanson mentioned a summer tour and hoping to have dates starting in late July. The Hanson.net “Member of the Month” was introduced and Shout It Out special edition packages became available for preorder. Taylor turned 27.

In April, we got to hear Thinking Bout Somethin in its entirety for the first time. Rumors of Hanson performing at EPCOT for Eat to the Beat began surfacing. The video for Thinking Bout Somethin generated a lot of buzz on the internet with music sites and bloggers. Hanson appeared on Letterman and The Today Show. Thinking Bout Somethin got 1 million views on myspace, which prompted Zac to start writing a song called “Refresh.” New “I Heart Hanson” T-Shirts were announced. The month finished with a week long concert series, 5 of 5, where each night Hanson played one of their albums in its entirety and it was recorded for a DVD release. During this week, Shout It Out tour dates were announced and went on presale!

May kicked off with Hanson’s performance at the Bamboozle festival in New Jersey. The guys also did a special live stream for Hanson Day. Mid-month, set times were released for the Bamboozle Road Show dates. Hanson performed with Conan O’Brien when his tour made its way to Tulsa, they sang “Never Been To Spain” and then did an aLive stream backstage with Conan. We found out that the Tampa performance was canceled so that Hanson could appear on the Tonight show with Jay Leno. The band got rave reviews for their performances on the Roadshow. Siobhan Magnus got to meet her idols at the American Idol post-show party, where she was given an advanced copy of Shout It Out. Volcanic ash caused a delay with parts of the Shout It Out album packages, and shipping was delayed.

In June, the restream of 5 of 5 meant discounts when your purchased the 5 of 5 DVD set. Hanson also kicked off the DeTour and took a trip from OK to CA, allowing us to check in via aLive streams along the way. On the 8th, Shout It Out was released! Hanson performed with Siobhan Magnus in Los Angeles. The band appeared on Lopez Tonight. Paper Magazine attempted to put on a show at the South Street Seaport with Hanson and Drake, but a riot happened instead. Fan Club members found out that Hanson.net email would be discontinued on September 1. Hanson recorded a cover of Furry Walls which became available on iTunes.

In the beginning of July, the OurStage voting winners were leaked. We found out that Hanson was added to the lineup for the August MIXFEST in Baltimore. Zac & Kate announced that they were expecting baby #2. Thinking Bout Somethin began getting added to radio rotation. The Shout It Out tour kicked off in Buffalo, NY and continued through Hyannis, Cohasset, Philly, Sayreville, Richmond, Ashville and Raleigh. Mobile check ins were announced allowing fanclub members with smart phones to check in at shows for a chance to win merch! Paper Magazine posted tour diaries from Hanson along the tour.

August had even more Shout It Out tour dates – with dates in Raleigh, Louisville, Nashville, Memphis, St Louis, Kansas City, Omaha, Milwaukee, Chicago, Grand Rapids, Royal Oak, Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Columbus, Baltimore, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Tulsa & Penn State. New merch was added – a foil megaphone shirt, more colors to the I Heart Hanson shirt, a tote bag, paint drip poster and a refresh shirt. Second leg OurStage winners were announced.

In September, Paper Magazine made up for the Drake Riots and had a free show featuring Hanson, which required tickets. The second leg of the tour kicked off, stopping in Mesa, Anaheim, Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, Spokane and Salt Lake City. The band also made an appearance on the Adam Corolla show.

October finished off leg 2 of the Shout It Out tour in Boulder, CO. The Lost Recordings were released to Hanson.net members, recorded at the Members Only Event in 2009 in Tulsa. Membership Kits began to ship to hanson.net members along with a special bonus gift. Zac turned 25 and the month was finished off with “Make It Out Alive” a members only event in Tulsa OK – the first all electric members only event!

In November the third leg of the Shout It Out tour was kicked off in Dallas. The tour continued rolling through Houston, Austin, St. Petersburg, Ft. Lauderdale, EPCOT, Atlanta, Charlotte, Baltimore, Falls Church, Northampton, Montreal, Stroudsburg, Wallingford, Burlington, and wrapping up in Toronto. Isaac turned 30, and kicked a guy out of their show in Montreal for pushing women. 5 of 5 DVD Preorders began to ship.

December we found out that Michael Jackson may have written a song for Hanson back in 1999. Hanson treated us to a Christmas Special even though we did not get enough views for the Thinking Bout Something video on YouTube. Zac & Kate welcomed a daughter, Junia Rose Ruth. Hanson performed at two radio shows in Oklahoma City and Tulsa.

    One small error: In April, the 1 million views of TBS was on MySpace, not Youtube 🙂 Thanks for this year in review; I bookmarked it for safe keeping! I think this is one of the best years of Hanson we’ve had in awhile!
