HANSON

8 p.m. Saturday, The Rave, 2401 W. Wisconsin Ave. $25 and $30 at the box office, (414) 342-7283 and through Ticketmaster, (414) 276-4545 and www.ticketmaster.com.

Some groups labor in vain to escape the shadow cast by a huge hit. For Hanson, the effort is to step away from the ray of sunshine that was its first and by far biggest hit, 1997’s “MMMBop.” There are worse things for which to be known.

The sibling trio came out of Tulsa, Okla., when none of its members was old enough to vote. Its major-label debut, “Middle of Nowhere,” had plenty of polish and the aforementioned “MMMBop,” which was crazily catchy.

Hanson has since continued to put out albums and tour, albeit without the same level of commercial success. The boys are men, and the men hold onto pop smarts with indie-label releases like last year’s “The Walk.”
