Article: Hanson coming to Knoxville

Pop fans can start MMMbop-ing now, because Hanson’s headed back into town.

On Wednesday, Oct. 1, Hanson will be performing at the Bijou Theatre in downtown Knoxville with opener The Veronicas. Tickets for their The Walk Tour are $33.50 a piece and the show starts at 8 p.m.

Hanson, who also performed at the Bijou last year, will be returning with some of their classics, as well as new material.

Although perhaps mostly known for their timeless first two albums, “Middle of Nowhere” and “Snowed In,” Hanson actually has 13 albums out.

While their recent concerts consist of newer material from their album, “The Walk,” Hanson also plays older material, usually in acoustic format.

Opening for Hanson will be another set of siblings, The Veronicas. Best known for their hit, “4Ever,” The Veronicas are twin sisters Lisa and Jessica, and mostly perform up-tempo pop-licious songs. But then again, what else would you expect from a Hanson opener?

UT junior Tina Culver attended last year’s Hanson concert and said, “The concert was amazing! They really know how to put on a good show. You bet I will be at the concert this time around. It was too good last time to not go again.”

Not everyone feels the same enthusiasm for the once-great pop band. Junior Annalise Bryant said, “MMMnot-so-much.”

One thing is for sure. This concert will be a definite treat for those Hanson fans that remember the band’s glory days, and pop music fans in general.
